1. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I’m the author of Suddenly Royal, Flukes, The Dark Betrayal Trilogy, and On Christmas Hill (a short story). I write whenever I have time, which is often late at night because I’m the mother to a crazy, adorable, extremely active three year old. I went to college for Art History and then did a completely different job. Sometimes I look back at my path to being an author and laugh. It’s all zigzags and roadblocks, but it made sense in the end.
When I’m not writing, I like to read, paint, or craft. I also love doing things outside. As long as it doesn’t get over ninety degrees. Which pretty much limits my entire summer here in South Georgia. I’m a weirdo that likes to do research, loves history, and am a sucker for TV marathons. (Even though I barely ever get to watch TV.)

2. Where do you get your ideas?

I honestly get ideas from some of the most random things. I never know where my muse is going to take me. Sometimes an idea comes from a song, seeing something interesting, or just a random idea. Occasionally I get ideas for a book based on one scene that popped into my head. I have notebooks full of ideas. Some of them will never see the light of day and others are patiently waiting their turn.

3. Can you tell us about your challenges in getting your first book published?

I’m self-published which had a wide range of challenges. I had to overcome my own fear and uncertainty, research the industry, and finish the book. It was honestly overwhelming at times, but I never looked back. There is so much to learn in this industry and I’m still learning every day.

4. If you had to go back and do it all over, is there any aspect of your novel or getting it published that you would change?

Looking back on the book with more experience, I can see things that I would change in the styling. However, that book is what got me started and I love those characters. I’m nothing but grateful that I took that leap of fate with Mortal Obligation.

5. Of the genres you write in which is the most challenging; which is the most fun.

They all have pros and cons. With the urban fantasy, there are a lot of different threads you have to juggle: relationships, mystery, mythology, etc. All of that can bog down a story if it isn’t handled carefully. And each of those threads should be related in some way—have a purpose for being there. Having said that, it’s also a lot of fun to let your imagination run wild. There aren’t as many restrictions on reality, which really lets you stretch your elbows as an author.

6. How do you market your work? What avenues have you found to work best for your each of your genres ?

Social Networking is an important part of an authors marketing strategy. The key is to really interact with readers, other authors, and bloggers. You can’t just send people stuff and expect them to read it. Building those relationships is a key part of our job. It’s also one of my favorite parts. I’ve met so many amazing people. I use Facebook a great deal, but some authors focus on blogging or twitter. I don’t think it matters what genre you’ve written, more about finding the thing that works and is comfortable for you. If you’re not into it, readers will know it.
I’d say to be careful with ads. Some of them work great and some don’t. I think genre plays a bigger part in where you should place any ads. Some genres do better in different places. Facebook ads seem to have varying results as do Goodread ads. Research those thoroughly before you put any money into them.

TITLE: Suddenly Royal

AUTHOR: Nichole Chase

GENRE: Contemporary Romance

TOUR ORGANIZER: InkSlinger PR

SUDDENLY ROYAL Synopsis:

Samantha Rousseau is used to getting her hands dirty. Working toward a master’s degree in wildlife biology while helping take care of her sick father, she has no time for celebrity gossip, designer clothes, or lazy vacations. So when a duchess from the small country of Lilaria invites her to dinner, Samantha assumes it’s to discuss a donation for the program. The truth will change the course of her life in ways she never dreamed.

Alex D’Lynsal is trying to keep his name clean. As crown prince of Lilaria, he’s had his share of scandalous headlines, but the latest pictures have sent him packing to America and forced him to swear off women—especially women in the public eye. That is, until he meets Samantha Rousseau. She’s stubborn, feisty, and incredibly sexy. Not to mention heiress to an estate in his country, which makes her everyone’s front-page news.

While Sam tries to navigate the new world of politics and wealth, she will also have to dodge her growing feelings for Alex. Giving in to them means more than just falling in love; it would mean accepting the weight of an entire country on her shoulders.

Nichole Chase is a daydreamer. No, really, just ask any of the math teachers that had the misfortune of seeing her name appear on their class schedule.
For years she has had story lines and characters begging for attention, but she resolutely pushed them aside to focus on more normal (read, boring) jobs.

Well, no longer! She is currently heeding the voices in her head and frantically writing their stories. Ms. Chase is the author of the Dark Betrayal Trilogy, Flukes, and Suddenly Royal (including several short stories).

Nichole resides in South Georgia with her husband, energetic daughter, dog, tortoise, and two cats. When not devouring novels by the dozens, you may find her writing, painting, crafting, or chasing her daughter around the house while making monster noises.
