Book Description:

We all want to fall in love and for it to last a lifetime. But life and wishes rarely coincide, so what happens when love dies and you’re the only one still holding onto broken dreams?

In Iniquitous Solace – The Aftermath, we get a glimpse into the world of one such lovelorn poetess. Come laugh and love with Penelope as she shares her very soul through her heartfelt words and poetic verse. With this girl you get it all; come walk in her shoes, wear her stripy knee-socks, or even her collar that locks! Though battered and bruised, you will love the spirit that defies disappointment. Penelope Jones picks herself up, dusts herself off and stares life straight back in the eye.

Iniquitous Solace – The Aftermath. For a different kind of love.

Review

Alfred Lord Tennyson wrote in his poem ‘In Memoriam:27’, 1850:

I hold it true, whate’er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
‘Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all.

Well Penelope Jones in Iniquitous Solace: The Aftermath delves into love and the loss of it, better yet the fracture of it. Part of this compilation of poems was published in an earlier edition Iniquitous Solace with another poet named Max. Now Ms. Jones has revamped her book; Max is gone and she comes out swinging and bearing her soul to the world.

I kept hearing the Chumbawamba song Tubthumper chorus ‘I get knocked, down but I get up again. You’re never gonna keep me down.” Nothing keeps Ms. Jones down either. Her pain is apparent in her prose, and I am glad I’m not on the receiving end of her ire. We have all been where Ms. Jones has been, and we are all stronger for it. Heartache in real life, I might add, is a b**ch Lord Tennyson.

It should be noted the author gifted me this book, but I had already bought it; so a book of poetry is up for grabs courtesy of Miss. Penelope Jones.
