~ Synopsis ~

“In its purest form love is self-sacrificing, eternal, selfless, enduring, truthful, forgiving and indulgent. It also feels an awful lot like a kick to the stomach when you try to fight it!”

All Everleigh Carsen wanted to do was complete her final semester at Hensley University and begin the life she carefully planned.

When a wave of violent crime seizes campus, Everleigh is persuaded to attend a school sponsored self-defense seminar by her best friend, where she meets volunteer instructor, Hunter Charles. After Everleigh’s biting sarcasm induces Hunter to eject her from class, a tempestuous relationship is born.

Everleigh is determined to forget the striking man, but fate—that fickle shrew—continuously intervenes. Unable to escape him, she declares Hunter an enemy combatant. The only complication…Hunter is resolutely pursuing vindication…by any means necessary. Verbal warfare ensues, and despite Everleigh’s ingenious efforts, in Hunter, she has finally found her equal.

Only For You is a compelling tale of friendship, desire, and redemption—brimming with intelligent characters, witty dialogue, unexpected twists, profound sorrow, unfettered hope, and love’s unassailable perseverance.

• This story is appropriate for readers 18+
• Only For You is the first book in the For You series by Genna Rulon. Each book in the series can be read as a stand alone novel.

~ Michelle’s 5-Star Review ~

“It was amazing. Earth shattering, mind blowing, it was everything. I’m hopelessly in love with him and destined to be destroyed in the near future.”

It was quotes like the one above that truly made me fall in love with the storyline and the writing of debut author, Genna Rulon.  She did an unbelievable job with the synopsis, so I am going to tell you why I enjoyed this book so much and have been suffering from a book hangover ever since reading this New Adult novel.

The storyline.  I honestly learned quite a bit about self-defense and the techniques to protect myself.  Having said that, I really want my daughter to read this book as she’ll be heading off to college next year.  I was so engrossed in the storyline about a “killer on campus,” as it was like none other I had read.

Just tell him what you want, what you’re willing to accept, and let him do the same.  You could be sacrificing the possibility for something amazing and permanent for something pleasurable but temporary.

The relationships.  Everleigh’s close-knit circle of friends includes both males and females, and I thoroughly enjoyed the interactions she had with each of them, especially the friend/sister relationship she shared with Sam, which was quite special.

If you don’t remember your value, no one else will.  Don’t ever settle, Ev.

The Laughter.  While reading Only for You, I felt like I was one of the gang sitting at the bar having a drink and laughing with the crew.  It was so real and true to life.

I had yet to meet a man I wanted , who wanted me, and whom I could envision spending the rest o my life with—without the desire to smother him with a pillow while he slept.

The Banter.  This truly was my favorite aspect of the book.  I can only assume that author Genna Rulon must have one hell of a sense of humor because so much of this book kept me laughing, even during serious times.  The banter between Hunter and Everleigh was priceless and so full of wit! Side note:  I think I have a new #GirlCrush.

I was rewarded with an unhindered view of his brawny back and muscular butt, beautifully showcased and begging to be bitten.

The Love.  Not only did Everleigh fall in love with Hunter, but I  could sense and feel the depth of her love for her friends—especially Samantha.  She was so loyal, through thick and thin.

“You’re the star I can never reach. I can wish and dream, stretch and strain, but you’re always just out of my grasp. I need something I can hold, I can count on. I need something tangible.”

For those of you who know me or have read my reviews, you know that I truly love my “smut” books!  I will admit it. “I, Michelle Leigh Eck, being of sound body and mind, am a smut-a-holic.”  But, Only for You did not have smut, and it’s definitely one I will share with my teenage daughter.  Irregardless,  I have placed Only for You on my top-10-reads-of-2013  shelf!  This is one book you don’t want to miss, and I am patiently waiting for the follow-up novel, Pieces for You.   Amazing job Genna!!!!

The laughter, the banter, the connections between the characters, the love, the emotions, and the tears together make this a 5-star read!
