Weapons and go bags and zombies, oh my! Nothing like the threat of a good old fashioned Dead attack to throw a rust eaten wrench into a budding love story, but that’s exactly what happens in Love in the Time of the Dead. If you’re looking for a high intensity zombie fight from first word to last, you’re in for a surprise because there’s more depth to this book than just gore for gore’s sake. Girl meets boy. Girl meets other boy. Both boys decide they like girl. All three running for their lives to try and extract a vaccine from girl. While writing this book, I learned a thing or two and I have to say, it was an unexpectedly fun ride.

Top Ten Things Author Tera Shanley Learned While Writing Love in the Time of the Dead

  1. Pines make good climbing trees and can help you escape zombie tickles.
  2. Three years into the Zompocalypse, canned Spam would still be edible.
  3. When a snarky boy surprise kisses you in the middle of a near death experience, sometimes punching him in the face is a valid reaction.
  4. Don’t fight a zombie if you can run from a zombie.
  5. Top three important things to pack in your bug-out bag: three days of water (three liters and hardcore filter and/or iodine tablets), shelter (pack light – tarp and rope strewn between trees, rocks to hold the edges down), and food (like freeze dried meals or high protein energy bars).
  6. Friends don’t let friends drug other friends. Even if they are only trying to help.
  7. A wise woman saves ammo during the apocalypse.
  8. Zombies are as intelligent as a tightly woven basket of pickles.
  9. When ungracefully sneaking through a window, always make sure the room is empty first.
  10. Zombies love you for what’s on the inside.
