Synopsis

From USA Today Bestselling Author Nora Flite
She thought she was stepping into fame:

Meeting Drezden Halifax should have been a dream. But dreams are supposed to be sweet, fragile things that whisk you away. Not monsters crafted from hard fingers, gritty vocal cords and a voice so powerful it could tear my guts right out.

Maybe my heart, too.

Becoming the guitarist for Four and a Half Headstones was everything I needed.

Too bad the band’s lead singer is doing his best to ruin everything I am.

He thought she would solve his troubles:

Lola Cooper, god damn Lola Cooper. She was the perfect guitarist, fingers that could summon a sweet song or punch a chord. She’s supposed to save my band, make us come out of this tour in one piece…

But I just want to tear HER to pieces.

No one should make me feel this way. One look at her, one smell, and I knew I’d have to have her. She does things to me that scare the shit out of me. Make me want to slam her on a wall and listen to her cries: eager or fearful, it doesn’t matter.

I’m a monster…
And I don’t even care.

~My Review~

This will read more like a warning of everything than a praise of the book.

This was a quick read with lots of potential.  Beware of the cliffhanger.  It’s more of a cutoff than an actual cliffhanger, but it’s there.  I despise them so I only think it’s fair to let you know.  There were some things I didn’t like about this book that you might so read my review with an open mind and dive in if you’re still curious.

Drezden Halifax is the lead singer of Four and a Half Headstones.  He’s just kicked his guitarist out of the band in the middle of a tour and now needs to find a replacement ASAP.  Lola Cooper is a roadie for her brother’s band who’s an opener on the same tour.  Her brother convinces her to audition for Four and a Half Headstones and she gets hired on the spot.

From the start Drez feels an attraction to Lola, but fights it along with his inner demons. Lola has some issues of her own to deal with and her growing feelings for Drez are not helping.  Not much else happens here except for trying to get along with each other.  There are some hints of Lola having gone through something as a teenager and Drez having been to the dark side, but the rest will be in the second book.  There are lots of questions I want answers to which means the author has kept me interested.

I like metaphors because it’s a sign of a really vivid imagination, but in this case, there were too many.  I would have liked to have seen more action between Drez and Lola and less inner dialogue.  Other than those two things, Nora Flite’s writing was nice and clean.  This is a novella so if you read this one, you will definitely need to read the second book.
