SYNOPSIS

The Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster phenomenon continues in the first heart-pounding new adult romance in The Maddox Brothers series.
Fiercely independent Camille “Cami” Camlin gladly moved on from her childhood before it was over. She has held down a job since before she could drive, and moved into her own apartment after her freshman year of college. Now tending bar at The Red Door, Cami doesn’t have time for much else besides work and classes, until a trip to see her boyfriend is cancelled, leaving her with a first weekend off in almost a year.
Trenton Maddox was the king of Eastern State University, dating co-eds before he even graduated high school. His friends wanted to be him, and women wanted to tame him, but after a tragic accident turned his world upside down, Trenton leaves campus to come to grips with the crushing guilt.
Eighteen months later, Trenton is living at home with his widower father, and works full-time at a local tattoo parlor to help with the bills. Just when he thinks his life is returning to normal, he notices Cami sitting alone at a table at The Red.
As the baby sister of four rowdy brothers, Cami believes she’ll have no problem keeping her new friendship with Trenton Maddox strictly platonic. But when a Maddox boy falls in love, he loves forever—even if she is the only reason their already broken family could fall apart.
In the first installment of the Maddox Brothers books, readers can experience the rush of reading Beautiful Disaster for the first time, all over again.

REVIEW

Trent Maddox it the new IT boy and Beautiful Oblivion is about to take the world by storm just like Beautiful Disaster did a couple of year ago.  The anticipation is high and let me tell you, Trent is going to steal your heart and make you say “Travis who?” mark my words. This is the first installment of the new series The Maddox Brothers with Trent and Cami’s story coming to us first. There is just something special about these brothers, their pull is magnetic, first Travis, and now Trent.

“Everyone knew Trent was bad news, but that never seemed to stop women from trying to tame him.”

Cami has known Trent most of her life and knows all about his bad boy ways, especially with women, and she has vowed to never become one of his conquests.  She has too much going in her life, she is hard working, kind, and has a boyfriend that she never sees, but loves nevertheless. On a night when she is feeling down about her boyfriend cancelling on her again, she is out with her roommate Raegan, and she runs into the above mentioned gorgeous bad boy Trent. He is charming and friendly, he buys her a few drinks, and before the night is over they’ve exchanged numbers. She instantly regrets it and wonders what the hell she was thinking giving him her number. She has a boyfriend, he has a reputation, what good can possibly come out of it?

“I was pretty damn smart. Smart enough to have kept my distance from Trenton all these years. I’d seen him flirt, seduce, and evade since we were kids. There was absolutely no trick Trenton Maddox could play that I wouldn’t be ready for. “

Let the fun begin! Cami thinks she is prepared for all that Trent will throw her way, and Trent is ready to play ball so to speak. Trent quickly begins to invade her life and slowly she starts to see a side of him that she didn’t know existed. He wants to be her friend and she is enjoying his company. The more time they spend together is making Cami question her feelings for her boyfriend TJ. As we see their friendship grow we can’t help but root for them to end up together. Trent is turning out to be a pretty great guy and there is no denying that she wants Cami and this is where things begin to get tricky.

“We’re just friends, Trent.”

“We haven’t been just friends for a while. And you know it.”

Beautiful Oblivion gives us a wonderful story of friendship, trust, hope, and love. Cami and Trent’s journey to reach that happy place with each other is not easy but every step of the way is so worth the end result. Jamie McGuire has done it again! She has created this beautiful story about two people who deserve happiness. Trent will bury himself deep in your heart and that twist in the story will have you anticipating what is in store for the next Maddox brother.

Commenting area

  1. I loved the first book so much that I couldn’t bring myself to read the second one from Travis’ point of view. Maybe I could try this one. I don’t know what it is with CR’s. They hit me too hard and make me look at my own romantic life too critically. So I abstain :S
