Homeless. Hungry. Desperate.
Doe has no memories of who she is or where she comes from.
A notorious career criminal just released from prison, King is someone you don’t want to cross unless you’re prepared to pay him back in blood, sweat, pu$$y or a combination of all three.
King’s future hangs in the balance. Doe’s is written in her past. When they come crashing together, they will have to learn that sometimes in order to hold on, you have to first let go.
Warning: This book contains graphic violence, consensual and nonconsensual sex, drug use, abuse, and other taboo subjects and adult subject matter. Although originally slated to be a standalone, KING is now a two part series.

“Things don’t always start out the way we want them to. It’s how they end that’s important.”
I have been waiting for this book from the moment I heard about it. And it was worth every second. I absolutely loved King. TM Frazier has the uncanny ability to create multidimensional characters. The hero, Brantley King, is sexy, hot, cunning, volatile and bad ass, but, there’s more. He is smart and shrewd. The heroine, Doe, is lost, confused, seemingly innocent, tough yet afraid with a streak of defiance. Together, they make one hell of a combination.
“I didn’t know whether I wanted to kill her or f**k her. Maybe both, but one thing was for sure. One way or another, I was going to make her scream.”
Author TM Frazier tells a gritty, raw story. It’s a story about surviving struggles anyway you can. I like that it’s not black and white, no right or wrong. It’s more like choosing the lesser of two evils., or finding what’s right for you. It’s dark and ugly but there’s beauty and light too. The relationship between King and Doe is complex. Their interaction is tense, skittish on both their parts, and charged with sexual tension. I really loved Doe because she was scared but not meek. And King, I just loved everything about him, even when I wanted to scream at him. He is gruff and alpha, a total bad boy but he’s loyal and has a heart he tries to keep hidden, maybe even from himself.
The story flows smoothly, even with the twists and heart stopping moments. There is danger and heartbreak, betrayal and hurt. I love the secondary characters too. They add even more depth to the story. The pacing is really good and the emotional aspect is mixed well with the violent world our characters inhabit. I love TM Frazier’s writing style. Her first book, The Dark Light of Day, is one of my all time favorite reads. King is right there with it. I cannot wait for Tyrant to see how it all ends. While I don’t love cliffhangers, there’s a part of me that is happy that it’s not over yet because I’m not ready to let King and Doe go. I highly recommend this book if you like your romance on the dark side. Please heed the author’s warning. If dark and twisted isn’t for you, skip King. But, if you’re a fan of the twisted and unconventional, if you can find beauty in ugly and hope in despair, then trust me, King is a MUST READ!!!
