From USA Today bestselling author Tonya Kappes, comes a brand new hilarious and fun paranormal mystery series about Emma Lee Raines, a funeral home director who can suddenly see dead people!

Bopped on the head from a falling plastic Santa, local undertaker Emma Lee Raines is told she’s suffering from "funeral trauma." It’s trauma all right, because the not so dearly departed keep talking to her. Take Ruthie Sue Payne--innkeeper, gossip queen, and arch-nemesis of Emma Lee’s granny-she’s adamant that she didn’t just fall down those stairs. She was pushed.

Ruthie has no idea who wanted her pushing up daisies. All she knows is that she can’t cross over until the matter is laid to eternal rest. In the land of the living, Emma Lee’s high-school crush, Sheriff Jack Henry Ross, isn’t ready to rule out foul play. Granny Raines, the widow of Ruthie’s ex-husband and co-owner of the Sleepy Hollow Inn, is the prime suspect. Now Emma Lee is stuck playing detective or risk being haunted forever.

~ b’s musings ~

i was afforded the opportunity to read an arc of a ghostly undertaking through a blog tour hosted by my fabulous friends at literati author services and i am so glad to have delved into the newly discovered world of tonya kappes.

sleepy hollow, kentucky is small town of zany kooks that you can’t help but fall in love with. gossip abounds and no one is more the center of that than funeral director, emma lee raines. the glorified nutcase of the town, she is a constant battle to hold true to her southern grandma’s rules of class and her type a sister’s demands. but her desire to forget that pesky incident with the santa and chicken goes by the way side when old pesky ruthie sue persuades emma lee of her untimely demise.

at heart this is a mystery and one that involves even those she holds most dear. somehow, emma lee must find out who is behind this heinous act and rescue the name and well being of her family.

death and ill fortune run the gamete of this novel, yet it still holds the lightheartedness of a breezy summer read. kappes quickly draws you into the inhabitants of sleepy hollow and despite there drawbacks, you cannot help but find some sense amusement at their predicaments. with hints of romance and humor, this is a mystery quickly devoured and not easily put down.

i highly recommend this novel if you are looking for an easy reading experience. i found myself continually smiling and giggling under my breath unbeknownst to myself. i am eager to hear more about this crazy bunch and will be sure to check out the next few books in this series to come out later in the year.

as always, these are my own personal thoughts and opinions based on my personal reading style.
