Indescribable Love

I lie upon my bed, pen and paper in hand

Wondering how ink could possibly express

Feelings not superfluous, but in every way essential

Devastation and creation, they’ve become elemental

The beauty of the sun’s first rays, kissing your face with warmth

Iridescent turquoise dragonfly lighting atop a winter’s perch

Pink cotton candy melting upon a first delectable taste

Mist covered green grasses, dewdrops clinging so chaste

A sidewalk café’s fragrant coffee after a downpour

Lost in a botanical garden, art blooming with life

Mounded sparkling presents in ribbon-tied perfection

Strong embrace, much-needed unsought protection

Hair flying through the wind, arms thrown wide,

Watercraft jumping capping waves, sea mist spraying

Standing on a mountaintop, the world spread below

Whispered tender secrets, wishes only two can know

Rollercoaster gripped hard, cars blazing down the rails

Peace of calmed oceans waves, lapping a lazy shore

A trillion stars glittering in diamond swath above

Yet… nothing quite compares to indescribable love
