SYNOPSIS

One night in September 2012, a woman sat at her desk and began to compose
A poem she had poured all her feelings out about the lingering past of those haunting foes
She then took a bold step and showed her work to her readers all around the earth
Little did she know she’d just given birth…
To an appetite for poetry that she has come to cherish
For as long as she lives, it’ll never perish

REVIEW

I love the written word. So much emotion can be expressed with the turn of a phase, and Tammy Louise Wilkins expresses herself well in her book My Intimate Poetry. Her poems delve into relationships, love, angst, heartbreak, and the structure of her life. Like all good poets, Ms. Wilkins exposes her heart and soul in her writing. The difference between a fiction writer and a poet is that a fiction writer uses his skill to craft a finally spun tale whereas a poet uses his blood to expose who he is to the world.

I found the writings of Ms. Wilkins engaging as they let me know who she is as a person, that rare glimpse into the light which is another being. Her gut-wrenching poems that deal with the loss of a love and a relationship are heartbreaking, and I joined her in her sorrow. The poems that deal in strife are where Ms. Wilkins shines. She also pulls you along in her journey of love. It is said that it is better to have loved; but losing love brings tears, and in those emotions Ms. Wilkins expresses those feelings powerfully in her poems.

I thoroughly enjoyed My Intimate Poetry and highly recommend it. I believe as Ms. Wilkins matures her art will continue to grow.

As a side note, I borrowed this book from Amazon Prime; however, after reading it, I purchased a copy for my book collection.

Because we want to share our love of poetry, we are giving away a Ebook copy of My Intimate Poetry by Tammy Louise Wilkins.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

20130226-234357.jpg

Tammy’s been interested in writing ever since Shakespeare was first introduced to her at a very young age. She was often downgraded in her reading by people who were unaware that she read autobiographies at home. Once in secondary school, her inner writer came out fighting surprising many.

Writing has always been a passion of Tammy’s. It was only when M.E. struck her that she began writing debut novel Temptation Bites.

“Everything I thought I knew about myself went out the window and my body was no longer under my control. It was a dark and difficult time for me and serious soul searching took place. I needed to have some control over my life and I found this through writing. Writing became my voice and opportunity to break away from my illness. My love for reading fueled my desire to write and once the seed of TB was planted a freedom returned to my life. I love to read, write and inspire.”
