Dating the Prince of Darkness has its challenges…

Leila’s psychic abilities have been failing her, and now she isn’t sure what the future holds. If that weren’t enough, her lover, Vlad, has been acting distant. Though Leila is a mere mortal, she’s also a modern woman who refuses to accept the cold shoulder treatment forever–especially from the darkly handsome vampire who still won’t admit that he loves her.

Like choosing between eternal love and a loveless eternity…

Soon circumstances send Leila back to the carnival circuit, where tragedy strikes. And when she finds herself in the crosshairs of a killer who may be closer than she realizes, Leila must decide who to trust– the fiery vampire who arouses her passions like no other, or the tortured knight who longs to be more than a friend? With danger stalking her every step of the way, all it takes is one wrong move to damn her for eternity.

REVIEW:

When the package from Harper Collins arrived I did a huge undead happy dance. I was more than over the moon to receive an advanced copy of Twice Tempted, Jeaneine Frost just happens to be amongst one of my favorite paranormal authors.
After finishing Twice Tempted by Jeaniene Frost all I can think to say is WOW, this book is one of the best undead adventures that I have read. Twice Tempted is Book #11 in the Night Huntress World and book #2 of Night Prince, which are the stories of Vlad Dracul and Leila. The first book in their book series was Once Burned. Vlad Dracul, for all you Night Huntress newbies was introduced in the Night Huntress Series, and is a thorn in the side to that series’ hero Bones. Vlad was written with such a presence it was only a matter of time before he was given his own book series. Twice Tempted is a fast paced exhilarating story, in which the adventure never stopped long enough for me to catch my breath. Life for the paranormal couple in Twice Tempted picks up shortly after the events of Once Burned, Leila is living with Vlad, and sleeping in his bed. Leila is deeply in love with Vlad, but is Vlad ready to give Leila what she deserves and needs.

Vlad is Dracula, the Prince of Darkness; but don’t make the mistake of calling him Dracula. Those who do make that mistake, pay with pain or worse. Vlad isn’t the warm cuddly sparkling type of vampire. He was a blood thirsty ruler prior to becoming a vampire; he’s Vlad the Impaler, not Vlad the teddy bear. He is the same arrogant sociopath that was first introduced in the Night Huntress Series by Ms. Frost; but he is one likable blood thirsty psychotic. He values loyalty above all else and those who are disloyal to Vlad hope for a quick end; but since he has his own torture chamber in his castle, those chances are slim to nil. He is a man from an entirely different time and culture; and he isn’t a modern man in any way shape or form. He believes in ruling his paranormal people with an iron fist. In Vlad’s world a weak vampire is prey, and Vlad would never be prey for another vampire. Vlad Tepesh has emotionally walled himself off, and he likes who he is, thank you very much.

The heroine of Vlad books is Leila, a electrifying psychic that fell hard for Vlad, in Once Burned. The book series is written from Leila’s perspective and what a great character and book voice she is. Leila is feisty, fiery, and strong. She’s a woman with her own personal demons and her nasty inner voice makes her doubt herself. In this book, Leila has become one of my favorite characters. Leila is gutsy and isn’t afraid to stand up for herself, even to Vlad, who no one stand up against; but a handful of equally menacing vampires.

All the secondary characters from Once Burned are back. My favorite of the secondary characters are Maximus, Vlad’s second in command and Gretchen, Leila’s sister. Maximus loves Vlad, but see’s him for who he truly is. I don’t think after all the centuries they have been together any illusion exists for Maximus; as he seems world weary. Gretchen is young, human, and has no filter not unlike a lot of early twenty year olds. She is just as bold as her sister, but the total lack of filter is going to someday get this girl in trouble. As many demons that Leila has, I suspect Gretchen’s mouthy attitude is masking her own demons.

I highly recommend this love adventure, for it gutsy characters, dialogue, and bold plot. When you pick up a Frost book you are sure to be entertained; and Twice Tempted doesn’t disappoint. Frost with Twice Tempted has hit the paranormal romance mark several times in this book; giving her readers a story that they won’t want to put down. So get comfy in you favorite chair, prior to switching on your EReader or cracking the books spine; as you won’t want to leave this tale until the very last page.
