  Book Synopsis

Twenty year old Lane Montgomery never imagined that her usually boring summer in the boonies would require her to trade her toe shoes in for hunting boots; or her monotonous college textbooks for treasure map deciphering. Never would she have imagined after breaking her grandmother’s precious Native American statue, danger, a lost treasure of Cherokee Gold and a hostage situation would arise. Nor could she predict that the one man destined to protect her and her family was her childhood nemesis and former crush, Maddox Diaz.

Returning after three years in the Army, twenty-three year old Maddox Diaz is confronted with more than he bargained for when agreeing to help his childhood buddy and deepest regret, Lane. Suddenly he is thrust into a dangerous game of cat and mouse with armed and ruthless treasure seekers that results in car chases and gun battles all in the presence of the one girl who still manages to haunt his dreams and drive him wild with desire.

Lane is determined to deny the sizzling chemistry with the man who stole her virginity and broke her heart. She just wants to stay alive with her heart intact. Will she be able to resist the man whose body sets fire to all her senses?

Karen’s Review

Are you looking for a fun romantic adventure, which reminds you of those great 80’s movies like Romancing the Stone? Then you need to read Search Me by Katie Ashley.  Ms. Ashley steps onto the adventure genre stage and gives the reader a fun adventure park ride with her latest book.  The heroine is Lane Montgomery. She has  sass and isn’t afraid to use it. The hero of the story is Maddox Diaz , the guy who happened to break Lane’s heart three years prior. He has snark and isn’t afraid to use it.  They are a dynamic couple that is about to explode and not in a sexual tension type of way, but in a kill you and leave you bloody on the floor kind of way.  To say that they aren’t friends would be putting it mildly.  I believe that Lane would want to mount Maddox’s family jewels above her fireplace.  So starts the premise of the treasure hunting adventure story of Search Me; but I don’t want to give away the plot.

Why I liked the book and why I think you should read it.  First, this is a cute, fun, and quick read.  I read it in a couple of hours (it should be noted for the reading public, I read pretty fast).  I like snarky, and sassy characters; and the book had some serious moments, but it never took itself too seriously.  These are new adult age characters out for an adventure.  To be honest, some may think the plot isn’t believeable, as neither of these characters call the police but are running from the bad guys.  However, I was in my late teens and early twenties and I thought I was invincible too.   I understood where the characters adventure streak and their ‘I can handle anything’  came from attitude.  This part of the characters personalities, had lived within me; and I was able to pull upon my own reckless moments to understand both of these characters.  I highly recommend this new adult adventure read, and I don’t think you will be disappointed.  Plus, watch out for the shower scene, and ECKFACTOR of 5, which translates to lots of hot steamy yummy.
