Emma is happy. She's got a promising career in front of her, great friends, and a pretty amazing family. But her social life has been a little lacking lately. That's when fate stepped in, and crashed her into a tall, dark and handsome man. Sure, he has his secrets...don't we all, and, yeah, maybe his secrets are a little more unusual than most - like he's a partial vampire who can walk around during the day, but also enjoys a little plasma nightcap now and again - but to Emma, he's single, successful, and an extraordinary gentleman. That makes up for a lot. Of course, his condition is a bit more serious than he first lets on, and living a life with him will require some sacrifices that most just aren't willing to make. Will she? Is love enough to compensate for a life that will never be anywhere near the realm of normalcy? But then again...what's normal anyway?

~Guest Post by S.C. Stephens ~

I love vampires. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because I’m in love with the idea of living forever, of being as close to immortality as one can get, of seeing the world’s continual evolution. Or maybe it is the idea of forging relationships that never have to end, although, considering how complicated relationships can be, that may not be as amazing as it sounds. But, then again, I could be in love with vampires just because I find fangs incredibly sexy.

For whatever reason, several years ago I decided to try my hand at writing a vampire story. I didn’t want to do the typical vampire novel though. I wanted to focus on a situation where the vampirism was almost secondary to the book—where it was one small part of the character’s persona, but definitely not all there was to them. I also wanted to make the vampires as human as possible. Nothing about them is different because they’re vampires. They’re not suddenly evil or anything. They are just as good/bad/seductive/playful/loving/protective as they would be if they were human. The vampirism helps shape their world, but it doesn’t control it.

I thought up the first chapter of Conversion while I was watching the X-Files movie. Why it popped into my head while watching that movie, I’ll never know, but I’m grateful it did (and someday, I’ll go back and finish the movie, because the few minutes I watched of it were pretty good!). I wrote this book immediately after finishing Thoughtless. I was in the mood for something lighter after that angsty love triangle, so there is a lot more comedy in this book than in Thoughtless. There is a whole lot of love too though. And sacrifice. And family. Out of all of my books, the Adams are definitely my favorite family unit. Their devotion to each other is as inspiring as it is (at times) infuriating. And Teren Adams is my book husband. As much as I love Kellan Kyle—and oh, man, do I love him—Teren is the one that I’d walk down the aisle with. Sigh. (Again, that might just be because of the fangs.)

So, as a thank you to the fans who read the book years ago and urged me to publish it, and as a treat to the readers who have yet to discover Teren and Emma’s story, I would like to share chapter one with you. Hopefully, you’ll love Teren Adams as much as I do.

Thank you for reading! From the bottom of my heart, I adore each and every one of you!

Sincerely,

SC

Whoa… I loved the first chapter!! I’m a huge S.C. Stephens fan and I devoured her Thoughtless series… Kellen Kyle *sigh*. This book is clearly different but her style is the same so I really can’t to read it!
