A Companion Novel to The Proposition and The Proposal
After her former boyfriend left her pregnant and alone, Megan McKenzie swore off men. She spent the last eighteen months focused solely on her son, Mason, along with finishing nursing school at the top of her class. Although she’s not ready to complicate her life with a long-term relationship, a nice no-strings attached hook-up is just what she needs. At her godson, Noah’s, baptism, she finds the perfect candidate in the soft-spoken godfather, Pesh Nadeen. After all, the widower could use a good time too. But after drinking too much, the night doesn’t end the way she thought it would. Forced to leave Pesh’s house through a walk of shame, Megan hopes to never, ever see him again.
For Pesh Nadeen, the very sight of Megan sends him into an emotional tailspin. Since she reminds him too much of what he has lost, he wants to be out of her sight…at first. But the more he gets to know her, there's something about the diminutive blonde that causes his protective side to go into overdrive, and he finds himself wanting more. When Megan is assigned to work in his ER to complete her nursing clinicals, he sees it as fate, but she’s having no part of it. She only wants a physical relationship while he wants far more.
What happens next is a sexy game of cat and mouse to see who will break first or if both of them will eventually get more than they ever bargained for.

Karen’s Thoughts

What does Katie Ashley do well? She writes beautifully sexy love stories. What she does really well is she writes wonderful men who are ready made to fall in love with.

Alpesh Nadeen, was first introduced in Ms. Ashley’s previously book The Proposition and The Proposal. Alpesh (Pesh) Nadeen is a sexy wonderful gentlemen doctor that every woman except Emma, would fall for. (Note Emma is the main heroine in The Proposition and The Proposal she is in love with another man.) This beautiful man has no faults!  He is a truly wonderful guy, that every reader will swoon for. Yes, he can only be a book boyfriend, because if he was real, there would be a huge influx of female readers into the Atlanta area.  We would all be needing E.R. service at is hospital.

In The Pairing, Pesh is paired with Meagan McKenzie, the niece of Aidan Fitzgerald of The Proposition and The Proposal. (The man Emma loves, as noted above)  These two characters are paired up as the godparents of the Fitzgerald’s son Noah.  So they are thrust together, in both social and eventually a professional environment.  Meagan is a single mom doing the best that she can, in both nursing school and having to live back at home with her toddler son. She has sacrificed a lot of her youth for her son and her schooling.

Both of these characters want something different from a relationship.  Pesh wants a relationship, hearts, flowers, romance and a possible future.  Meagan does not want any of that, and especially she doesn’t want a future, she wants hot steamy sex. So two opposing forces collide in this book.  Will Pesh change Meagan’s mind or will Meagan convince Pesh that no strings attached sex can be fun?   Hmmm guess what read the book.

I have to say that it felt like homecoming with all the characters from the previous books represented.  Fans of the previous books will not be disappointed.  I would also not call this a complete stand alone novel, as if I hadn’t read the previous books I wouldn’t have been lost, but the complete flavor of the book would have been diminished. So I recommend reading the previous Ashley titles. I will admit I like dirty take charge Pesh, a little too much.  So be warned.  🙂  Have a great time reading this fun romantic book.

I was given a review copy for an honest review.  It should be noted the copy I had was not the final edit and there were content errors in the version I read.  I did not base my thoughts on obvious content errors that hopefully will be fixed by the final edit.
