One-night stands are supposed to be with someone convenient, or wickedly persuasive, or regrettable. They aren’t supposed to be with someone like him.

But after a crazy Vegas weekend celebrating her college graduation—and terrified of the future path she knows is a cop-out—Mia Holland makes the wildest decision of her life: follow Ansel Guillaume—her sweet, filthy fling—to France for the summer and just…play.

When feelings begin to develop behind the provocative roles they take on, and their temporary masquerade adventures begin to feel real, Mia will have to decide if she belongs in the life she left because it was all wrong, or in the strange new one that seems worlds away.

YESI’S REVIEW

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas! Wait, no, what happens in Vegas, ends up in France!!! If you are looking for the perfect summer escape then you must meet the hottest Frenchman known to women…Ansel Guillaume! Sweet Filthy Boy will make you wish you spoke French and be the woman he spends his nights with in Paris. As a native Spanish speaker, never in my life have I wished that I spoke French instead, until now.

“Well, in that case I can tell you, Je n’ai plus désiré une femme comme je te désire depuis longtemps. Ça n’est peut-être même jamais arrivé.” He pulls back, studies my reaction as if I’d be able to decode a word of it. “Est-ce totalement fou? Je m’en fiche.” My brain can’t magically translate the words.”

Neither can mine but boy did I try. Mia Holland has graduated from college and is celebrating in Vegas with her friends Harlow and Lola, who by the way are the coolest friends ever. She is quiet, reserved, and almost shy. So when she meets the gorgeous and sexy Ansel she is surprised by her attraction and desire to know him. She isn’t looking for anything, she is sensible and she is definitely not the one-night stand kind of girl but there is something about this man that pulls her in. I have to say that from the moment Ansel graces the pages of Sweet Filthy Boy, I was a gone, head over heels gone. One thing I absolutely love in a hero is a sexy accent and this man has that and so much more. Everything that comes out of his mouth from the moment he meets Mia is sexy and filthy yet sweet and endearing too. He seems genuine, hotter than hell, but a really nice guy. With a bit of encouragement from her friends Mia decides to lets loose a bit and good Lord did she pick the perfect man to do that with. Go Mia!

“And if I may, I’d like to suggest that you hit that French boy like a hammer tonight. Is his accent not the hottest thing you’ve ever heard?” Harlow

I can’t tell you if Mia takes her friends advice but I will say that her memories of their night together had me reaching for a fan. WOW!!! From the synopsis you know that she ends up in France with him. I do hate spoilers so I will not give anything away, but I will say that there is so much about this book that I loved. Yes they met and jumped into something crazy, but once things are a bit settled in France, there is an awkward stage, there is fear, and yes, there is doubt. I truly enjoyed the development of their relationship. What starts off as an adventure turns into something real. Ansel has a life and demanding job in Paris, plus a bit of unresolved business. Mia is trying to decide how she can fit in. Once she realizes that regardless of their situation she is in fact in one of the most beautiful cities in world and decides to embrace it. She begins to explore the city and immerse herself in the culture and I have to say that I felt like that college student myself when I went to Paris for the first time at 21. This part of the book brought a magical feel to the story. Paris was brought to life and it was perfect. Mia and Ansel’s story is unique because what they experience together is beautiful even through their struggles. You root for them and you fall in love with them all at once. Ansel’s character has so much depth and he sets those butterflies loose in your tummy. He absolutely captured my heart.

“I don’t want to think about work or friends or even eating. I want to exist on you alone.”

If you aren’t swooning already, then wait, he has so much more to offer. Sweet Filthy Boy will rock your reading world. Christina Lauren has the ability to make you get lost in a story, to feel every emotion, joy or heartbreak. This was one of my most highly anticipated books of 2014 and it did not disappoint. It is sexy, smart, sweet, extremely addictive, and full of humor; the perfect summer read. My only wish was for a longer ending or an epilogue. It is my hope that this is not the last we’ll see of Mia and Ansel and I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for a novella. There is a sneak peek at the end for the next book in the series, Dirty Rowdy Thing, and the date is already marked on my calendar. I cannot wait for Harlow and Finn’s story and of course I am hoping that Ansel and Mia make an appearance. In the meantime, pick up Sweet Filthy Boy as soon as possible and escape to France for the summer!

“I’d be your slave,” he whispers, sliding two fingers into me. “Give me nothing but this and your mouth and your quiet words and I’d be your slave, Cerise.”

About Christina Lauren

Yes, there are two of us! Lauren (on the left) and Christina (on the right).

Christina Lauren is the combined pen name of long-time writing partners/besties/soulmates/brain-twins Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings. The coauthor duo writes both Young Adult and Adult Fiction, and together has produced eight New York Times bestselling novels. Their books have been translated into 24 languages.

Lauren Billings (but everyone calls her Lo) has a Ph.D. in neuroscience and before she made writing her full-time job, would spend her days doing nerdy research-type things wearing a lab coat and goggles. She is silly Mommy to two littles, wife to one mountain biking homebrewing scientist, bestie to a shoe-stealer, and an unabashed lover of YA and romance.

Christina Hobbs (but you’ll always hear Lo call her PQ) used to spend her days in a junior high counseling office surrounded by teenagers. These days you’ll probably find her on tumblr. She is married and absolutely not old enough to be the mom of a 14 year old (right??), thinks she’s the luckiest person in the world to write books with her best friend, and is an unapologetic lover of boy bands and glitter. She also likes to steal Lo’s shoes.
