Robbie’s Review

If you are a CIA agent you expect dangerous assignments, right?  What you don’t expect is to find yourself working hand in hand with a man who is a former lover (and for whom you still hold a strong attraction) on an assignment that is loaded with sexual tension. And it’s an assignment that takes both of you into the highly charged and unpredictable world of political coercion starring a very highly placed White House figure as the ring leader.  Author Kathy Kulig has written Jason Merritt and Zoe Summers as a pair of attractive but prickly characters who share a work past and a personal past.  Zoe is chosen for a dangerous mission because of her physical appearance as well as her top level clearance and training in undercover work.    Because Zoe hasn’t been completely briefed  about the true nature of her new mission, she initially finds her desk job tedious and a bit of a demotion from the excitement of field work.  She receives her first clue that something is very different about this assignment when she runs across a badge belonging to a previous worker.

Turning the badge over in her hand, she examined a red piece of tape dangling off one of the keys like a one-inch flag.  Nothing was written on it.  The photo on the badge was of  young blond woman in her late twenties with a pretty smile.  The woman could’ve been Zoe’s sister if she had one.

As Zoe quickly discovers, the target of her mission has a weakness for her physical type as well as a particular sexual life style. Good news. . .bad news. . .Jason has been selected to train her to take advantage of the target’s weakness.

This is a well-written book with a few editing mistakes that don’t really detract from the flow of the story.  The plot is intriguing, the action is fast-paced and the sex is plentiful and creative.  There is ample suspense with international implications and a very clever twist to the role of the First Lady and her “team”.  The last couple of chapters definitely measure up to thriller status and for those readers who require a HEA, a very romantic one is coming, so just keep reading.  I, for one, will be watching to see where the author takes this captivating and clever new series.
