DEMETRIUS—He’s the hulking, brooding warrior his fellow Guardians avoid. Too dark. Too damaged. And given his heritage, he knows it’s best to keep everyone at arm’s length.

Isadora is missing. The words pound through his head like a frantic drumbeat. For her own protection, Demetrius did all he could to avoid the fragile princess, his soul mate. And now she’s gone—kidnapped. To get her back, he’ll have to go to the black place in his soul he’s always shunned.

As daemons ravage the human realm and his loyalty to the Guardians is put to the ultimate test, Demetrius realizes that Isadora is stronger than anyone thought. And finally letting her into his heart may be the only way to save them both.

With Tempted book three of the Eternal Guardian series, Naughton has finally pulled me into the series.  The first two books in this series I found inconsistencies in her world building, which greatly bothered me. In Tempted, Naughton has laid out a story that was imaginative and a romance that was heartfelt. This book pairs ups  Princess Isadora and the Argonaut who loathes her, Demetrius.  Isadora is a very confusing character as she has tried in the previous books not to be a pawn of her father’s machinations,  but with every step she took forward; she would fall back ten.  Demetrius has had nothing but contempt for her, and has in previous books totally humiliated her; especially when her father announced that he was chosen to marry her.  The jackass said he would rather die than marry Isadora.  Nothing in this book can be taken at face value.

The Argonauts are not a cohesive unit, and they are not even really friends.  I am perplexed as how you could serve with someone in the line of battle and not consider them your friend, or at least know where they live.  With each book Naughton is delving into  the group as a whole, character by character.

Naughton, has fleshed out her world building and the contradictions that appeared in the first two books, have not shown up in this one.  I still have questions, about some minor questions about the  world building, but story ARC plotting is on firmer ground with this book.  There are two major villains this time in this book, and of course the Argolian political system and it’s prejudice again half humans is still in place.

Yes I will be reading more of this series.

About Elisabeth Naughton

Before topping multiple bestseller lists—including those of the New York Times, USA Today, and the Wall Street Journal—Elisabeth Naughton taught middle school science. A rabid reader, she soon discovered she had a knack for creating stories with a chemistry of their own. The spark turned into a flame, and Naughton now writes full-time. Besides topping bestseller lists, her books have been nominated for some of the industry’s most prestigious awards, such as the RITA® and Golden Heart Awards from Romance Writers of America, the Australian Romance Reader Awards, and the Golden Leaf Award. When not dreaming up new stories, Naughton can be found spending time with her husband and three children in their western Oregon home.
