Karen Ponders The World of Vlad of The Night Prince Novels

When I pick up a Jeaniene Frost book, at the first crack of the books spine, I get giddy.  I know that no matter what unfolds in her tale, it is going to be one hell of a ride.  Bound by Night is the third book in The Night Prince series of books, and it is an explosive, nitrogen powered thrill ride.   The book tells the tale of Vlad, ‘don’t call him Dracula’, Dracul; the immortal vampire of legend, and his beloved wife Leila/Frankie the lightbulb.  Okay, Frankie isn’t a lightbulb, but the girl can control voltage like no ones business.  She is a vampire electric whip welding bad ass, or could be if not for her medieval over protective hubby.  Vlad is the ‘do as I say not as I do’ type of guy, which means he can leap into danger; but Leila needs to stay home safe and possibly take up knitting.  Vlad’s past has colored his protective extinct, he has lost too many people in his long life.  The wonderfully fun part of these books is that they are written via Leila’s point of view so we get all her snarky sarcasm, as she battles agains Vlad’s iron will.

As with all of Frost’s Night Prince books, mayhem ensues; as what are supernatural paranormals supposed to watch T.V. and snuggle; which they totally would if Vlad’s mortal enemies weren’t still after him and an extension Leila.

All the usually suspects are on board for this adventure. I love the clueless Gretchen, she provides levity in a book that has a lot of blood, torture and vengeance.  With all my book reviews you know you won’t get the plot out of me, but know you really should pick up this book. No one does paranormal romance quiet like Frost.

Cat and Bone fans will love that they briefly pop into the story.  Alas I am sad as The Night Prince series is slated to come to a conclusion in 2016 with the final book.  I know no matter what lies ahead for Ms. Frost, she will be forever one of my one-click authors.

Note I received a book to review, but also purchased a copy; as I love this freaking series and re read on my kindle.
