~ REVIEW ~
I was excited to read Take Me With You, the follow up to Take Me for Granted by KA Linde, which I loved. I’m a sucker for a good rock star story. This book picked up where the first book left off, seamlessly. It was a quick read, with just the right amount of angst and steam to keep the reader engaged. It is written in dual POV, which I love. When done well, I think this is the best way to get to know the characters and get inside their head. Ms. Linde does a great job showing us both sides. Thus, allowing the reader to understand more than the characters do, because we are privy to both of their inner thoughts that they haven’t shared with each other yet.
“No matter where we were or what we were doing I would always hold his heart…and he would always hold mine.” ~ Ari
The story paints portrait of two young people in love, trying to find their way while discovering themselves. They face many obstacles that are typical of new relationship, add in him being in a rock band, groupies, overbearing, snobby parents and there’s plenty of drama to go around. I like that Aribel was strong in knowing what she wanted, even when she feared things may not go the way she hopes. Grant, I loved. The man whore trying to be faithful while admitting there was temptation all around. He is hot, sexy, and flawed enough to be the perfect book boyfriend. Did I mention he’s also an up and coming rock star who writes his own lyrics? SWOON!! Ms. Linde wrote likeable, relatable characters in the way they deal with a new relationship and stressors around them. There were times I wanted to smack them both but I like that in my books. The secondary plot was fantastic as well. So much of who Grant is was because of his past. The author weaves that story within the novel effortlessly.
“I can’t have you in danger. If I have to confront him and all my demons to make sure you’re safe, then I’ll do it. I’d do it for you.” ~ Grant
Fans of KA Linde will love this book, as will those who enjoy a good romance with an unlikely couple.
Grant practically bounded across the room until he was directly in front of me. Then, his hands were cupping my cheeks so tenderly that it was as if he thought I might break in half. Without a word, his mouth dropped down on mine, and the kiss was as light as a feather. It was a question, a soft and delicate question, one he had never asked before—permission.
When I didn’t pull away from him, he received his answer. The kiss deepened, and he coaxed all the anger out of me. He drew it out as if sucking venom from an open wound. He kissed me so heatedly and lovingly that not even a drop remained. All that was left was a bottomless well of emotions of how much I loved and missed him.
When I came back into the moment, I heard the catcalls and yells from the people around us. It was then I remembered that we were in a crowded room, surrounded by people, and Grant had kissed the breath out of me. I flushed from head to toe at the attention, but he wouldn’t let me pull away.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered. “I shouldn’t have blown up on you. I shouldn’t have done anything. You’re all that matters.”
I stared up at him in confusion. “Who are you, and what have you done with Grant McDermott?”
He laughed that beautiful glorious laugh, and a smile lit up his whole face. It was that damn smile that had won me over in the first place.
“Run away with me,” he murmured.
“What?”
“Run away with me. Let’s get out of here.”
“Where are we going?”
“Anywhere. Everywhere.”
