Maria & Yesi’s Thoughts on HERO:
Yesi: First off I think we both agree that this book was phenomenal! We both loved the story, the characters, the buildup, the angst, and the smoking hot scenes. We definitely both agree that Caine Carraway was, at times, one giant a**hat yet we couldn’t love him more! HERO is Samantha Young’s latest contemporary romance novel and just like her work before, this one does not disappoint.
“Anticipation is everything.”
Maria: Indeed it is. What struck me first was that the connection and chemistry between Caine and Lexie was there from the very start. Yet, this book was anything but insta-love. Caine notices Lexie immediately, Lexie is drawn to him but has a special connection to him so she confesses what that connection is and it backfires.
Yesi: Yes, I liked that the book started off with fireworks so to speak. The events that follow their initial meeting sets up the perfect story with a blend of hate, attraction, and resistance, as well as, passion, angst, and a love story that we hope it will all lead to. The build up in this story is fantastic!
Maria: Their back and forth with each other wasn’t quite banter because it wasn’t friendly at all. Their comments were sarcastic, quick -witted and cutting. It was angry and it was HOT.
Yesi: They were both angry and it made for some very hot scenes. You could almost feel the burn and never have I wanted to be in a line of fire more. I knew without a doubt that when they finally gave in, holy hell, it was going to me smoking hot!
Maria: Their chemistry was palpable and it was sizzling. Definitely smoking HOT!!!
“I fantasize about f*cking you in this office a hundred times a day.”
Yesi: Okay so up until this point we know that they are both angry but the mutual attraction is definitely there. Their chemistry is through the roof and they know it. Yet, Caine is not wanting to admit his feelings and certainly needs a little push, well more like a shove, and thanks to one awesome neighbor named Effie and one fantastic friend named Henry, things started to move along.
Maria: Finally! Caine took what he wanted! He is truly the perfect BBF… hot, sexy, flawed, cocky, powerful, and one hundred percent alpha. A relationship of sorts emerges, not quite sure what you’d call them.
Yesi: Absolutely! Even when he was being a jerk there was just something special about him that drew me in. And even better…our heroine was a badass herself! I liked that Lexie was strong, witty, and didn’t back down. She was no damsel in distress and she certainly wasn’t a pushover.
Maria: She was a great character because she strong and not wishy washy at all. Even though she wanted him and felt guilty for what happened, she never allowed him to walk all over her. She helped him find a part of himself that he didn’t even know he had.
Yesi: She really did. She never gave up on him, even when he tried so hard to push her away. She saw something beneath his hard exterior and she continued to fight for him. It made rooting for her easy. At times I wanted to smack Caine for how awful and clueless he was but at the same time I wanted him to realize how special she was all on his own.
Maria: She refused to give up on him. He was more than worth the fight. Even when his past comes back to haunt him and his feeling unworthy; Lexie stuck with him.
Yesi: Again coming back to how special Lexie is and how she is the strong woman that Caine never knew he needed.
“You’re afraid to let me in. But I know something all those other women who have tried and failed with you don’t. I know you’re a good man. Real in a way they’ve never had the chance to see.”
Maria: Samantha Young continues to give us brilliant writing and an original story that draws the reader in from beginning to end. Absolutely loved it!!!
Yesi: HERO is a standalone novel that will leave you breathless yet completely and utterly satisfied. If you loved Braden Carmichael, then you are guaranteed to fall hard and fast for Caine Carraway. This must read book that will leave a lasting impression. An instant favorite!
