Rebel and Sophia's story.
The first of a three part series. This novel contains a small snippet which has already been released in the Owned: An Alpha Anthology, however it is followed by a full story installment.
Sophia
Sometimes, you don't mean to become another person. Sometimes the choice is made for you, and pretending is the only thing that keeps you going. When Alexis Romera is taken and her kidnappers find her fake ID in her purse, she must become Sophia in order to keep her family safe. Revealing her real identity to the man she's sold to would be easy enough, but can she trust him? Hell bent on revenging the murder of his uncle, Rebel doesn't seem all that interested in playing things safe.
In fact, nothing about the secretive, dark and brooding MC president seems safe at all.
Rebel
What do you do when the man who raised you is murdered, and the only witness is kidnapped girl who's being sold as a sex slave? You buy her, of course. As president to the most powerful motorcycle club in America, Rebel isn't lacking in power. There are strings the man can pull, and entire criminal organisations and corporate businesses alike would fall to their knees. However, along with such power comes intense interest. The DEA have their eye fixed solely on the MC...and they're just waiting for Rebel to trip up.
Getting Sophia to testify is the only way to bring the Los Oscuros cartel down. The beautiful, dark haired, dark eyed woman is belligerent and uncooperative and unlikely to bend to his will, but Rebel has a few tricks up his sleeve to make her compliant--he'll charm her until she's bending over backwards to please him.
Of course, falling for her might cause a few hiccups along the way...

~ Maria’s Review ~
“It’s amazing how dramatically the foundations of your very self, the very basis of what makes you you, can tilt on its axis, and you can become something other. Something dark. Something disreputable. Something bloodthirsty and violent. ” ~ Rebel
Meet Rebel. President of the Widow Makers MC. He is dark, dangerous, sexy as sin, a man who gets what he wants by any means necessary. What he wants, needs, is Sophia’s help. So he buys her from her kidnappers. She should be eager to help him since he saved her from them, right? Not quite. And so begins the highly anticipated story of Rebel and Sophia. If you read Callie Hart’s Blood and Roses series, you’ve already met these characters. If you haven’t, what are you waiting for? You don’t have to read the Blood and Roses series in order to read Rebel. There are no spoilers in this book. However, that series is amazing in and of itself, so you should read it. Now, let’s focus on Rebel.
“Time to get this over with. The guy is hot. I’ve done everything I can think of not to think that way, but it’s hopeless. He can be n ass, and he can be rude, and I can want to punch him in his face, but that won’t change the fact that he’s smoking hot.” ~ Sophia
Rebel’s character intrigued me in the Blood & Roses series and I was excited to learn author Callie Hart would be writing his story. He is an enigma. One that Sophia tries to figure out because her life depends on him. I really love these two. She is a feisty, stubborn smart ass. He is brooding, mysterious, deadly and HOT. Their banter is fantastic, full of quick wit. It had me laughing out loud at times. They also sizzle together. The sexual tension is palpable. Yet, one of the things I love is that while they clearly have chemistry and find each other attractive, they are leery of each other. Neither trusts the other immediately which makes it more believable, considering the circumstances. Their journey is fraught with danger, fear, and uncertainty.
“I’ll keep you safe no matter what. Your family, too. From here on out, from now until you decide you need to leave, you’re under the Widow Makers protection, and so are they.” ~ Rebel
There are two major storylines that intermingle with each other by the end. Both develop at a good, natural pace and provide more insight into who Rebel is and why he is this way. The author writes in dual POV, which I love because you get to be inside both characters’ heads, allowing for a deeper understanding. I love her writing. It flows smoothly. Fans of the Blood and Roses series will not want to miss his one. Highly recommend this book. And, I must add, that while this is a trilogy, the ending isn’t the type of cliffhanger where you feel the book just stops abruptly. It sets up the continuation of the story but in a more natural way.
Callie Hart’s writing is unique, creative and addicting. She creates characters that the reader instantly likes and connects with, rooting for their happy ending. It was a great read. I eagerly look forward to books 2 and 3 in this trilogy.
~ Excerpt ~
“You think you use your brain when you’re having sex?”
Rebel’s pen freezes on the paper. He turns, then, towering over me, my face level with his belt buckle. It’s as though I can literally feel the heat rolling off his body. He’s intimidating and overwhelming, his presence a powerful force to be reckoned with.
“Oh, Sophia. I use my brain. Every time I sleep with a woman, I’m using my head to figure out what she likes. How she likes it. What I can do to have her screaming my name until her throat’s raw.”
