The New York Times bestselling author of Slow Burn turns up the heat when a sexy bet turns into so much more…
Hawkin Play, the bad boy rock star with a good guy heart, has lived a lifetime of cleaning up after his twin brother’s mistakes. Hunter’s most recent screw-up could land Hawke in jail and risk the band’s future. Hawke agrees to guest lecture at a local college to stay in the judge’s good graces—and a bet with his bandmate to seduce his sexy teaching assistant is icing on the cake.
Quinlan Westin is harder to bed than Hawke imagined. She knows his type and is determined to avoid the rocker at all costs—even if their attraction runs deeper than simple lust.
Just as Hawke might finally be winning over the girl, his brother has other plans. When Hunter realizes his twin finally has a weakness, he’ll stop at nothing to take advantage… ...

Maria’s Review
“Rocker trumps racer every time. Hands down.” ~ Hawkin Play
I wasn’t sure about this book. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Colton Donovan and the Driven trilogy. I was excited for Beckett’s story because he was that quiet country boy, yet alpha hottie. But Quin? Wasn’t sure if I was really interested in her story. Well author K.Bromberg proved me wrong. In Sweet Ache, Quinlan Westin is a strong, independent, smart ass who knows what she wants. I liked her character. Throw in a hot rocker with ink and issues, I’m in!
Hawkin Play is the sexy, charismatic lead singer of the hot new band Bent. He is sex personified. But he has a past that has made him swear off love. He’s made promises he intends to keep no matter what the cost. But he starts to see that maybe the price is too high when he can lose everything.
Quinlan Westin is ambitious, smart, beautiful and not afraid to go for what she wants. The thing is she’s not too sure what that is, other than finishing her thesis and getting her degree. Colton’s sister is no pushover.
“Well, sometimes, right in the middle of everyday life, love gives you a fairytale when you least expect it. “
When these two meet, it’s insta-lust but far from love. The tension is thick. The banter is witty and fun. Their story has just the right amount of drama and angst to keep the reader engaged and turning pages to see how it will play out. K. Bromberg infuses humor and great one liners that had me laughing and high fiving Quin in my head when she’d put Hawke in his place or when he’d crack a comment that shut her up. These two have a spark and their chemistry is sizzling. And the sex? Steamy, sexy, hot!!! K. Bromberg can write a love scene! *fanning self*
“Take me now. F**k me. Wreck me. Make me yours.”
But what I also liked was the side story between Hawke, his twin Hunter, and the family drama Hawke is immersed n. Secrets and lies, betrayal and the truth coming out in the most unexpected twist. It makes this story more than a romance, but one about growing, forgiving oneself, letting go and moving on. It’s about second chances, taking a risk and change. It’s heartbreaking and at the same time, hopeful.
Must give a shout out for the cameos of some of my favorite rockers, Jake and The Mighty Storm; Kellan, Griffin and The D-Bags; Noel, Riff and Black Falcon!! That was awesome. So many hot rockers in one book, even for just a little bit.
Fans of the Driven series will love this story, which can be read as a standalone, but you will get a spoiler about Colton’s story if you haven’t read it. And if you haven’t read it, what are you waiting for? And, as much as I love my racer, Colton, Hawkin gives him a run for his money and will steal your heart. Maybe rock stars do trump racers….Sweet Ache is a great read!!
