The first novel in the Sinful Suitors series by New York Times bestselling author Sabrina Jeffries! At St. George’s Club, guardians conspire to keep their unattached sisters and wards out of the clutches of sinful suitors. Which works fine…except when the sinful suitors are members!
American artist Jeremy Keane refuses to return home and take over his father’s business. He’d much rather sample bevvies of beauties abroad, in search of a model for the provocative masterpiece he’s driven to paint. When he meets Lady Yvette Barlow at a London wedding, he realizes she’s perfect for his work—and determines to capture the young heiress’s defiant spirit and breathtaking sensuality on canvas.
No stranger to scandal, Yvette agrees to be Keane’s subject—in exchange for his help gaining entry to the city’s brothels he knows intimately, so she can track a missing woman and solve a family mystery. But when their practical partnership leads to lessons in the art of sinning, can they find a bold and lasting love?

When I first picked up this book for review, I read the first few pages and found myself putting it down. The first scene is that of a wedding; and honestly the book didn’t pull me in. So I thought I had made a mistake requesting this title from Netgalley. Then I returned to the book a couple of weeks later and I was pleasantly surprised, but what I found past the first few pages, which didn’t spark my interested, the rest of the book held me spellbound.
The synopsis is a little misleading as the St. George club does not play a role in this book beyond the inane idea of a small group of guardians and brother. To think of a bunch of rogues, trying to keep their womenfolk safe from men like them; was hilarious, but beside the brandy fueled talk nothing comes of the St. George club in this book.
The Art of Sinning by Sabrina Jefferies is a sinfully delicious historical romance that pairs an obsessed painter and his muse. The painter Jeremy Keane is a self professed selfish rogue, who clashes and sparks with the lovely Lady Yvette Barlow, who is forthright and can cower most suitors with her wickedly sharp tongue. The witty banter and the heroines fiery temperament made the book a page turner. The book’s plot throws in some family intrigue, a trip to a salacious Covent Garden nunnery (brothel), clandestine art modeling; which give both characters time to reflect on their own wants and needs. There are no hearts and flowers romance in this relationship, as the rogue confesses he doesn’t know how to love and is completely selfish. Jeremy has painted himself into an emotional box since the early tragedies of his late youth. Whereas Yvette keeps everyone at arms length, hoping not to be hurt or abandoned by love. The result is a love story that is inspirational as it mines the depth of the characters trust for each other and the trust they find in themselves.
