Orange Is the New Black meets Jennifer Probst’s New York Times bestselling Marriage to a Billionaire trilogy, in this e-novella of love and redemption in the sensational A Pound of Flesh series. When prison tutor Kat Lane met arrogant inmate Wesley Carter in A Pound of Flesh, it was hate at first sight. Carter’s quick wit and reputation for being as dangerous as he was handsome kept her at a distance. But as they grew to know each other as teacher and student in the New York prison, Kat found there was much more to Carter than she thought. In Love and Always, Kat and Carter’s story continues as they share the news of their engagement—which doesn’t go over well with Kat’s mother. On top of it all, Carter has a new role as CEO of WCS Communications, which adds more pressure to his new life outside prison. Trying to juggle family, a billion dollar business, and Carter’s best friend Max’s rehab stint doesn’t leave much time for the happy couple to enjoy each other. How will Kat and Carter handle the pressures of marriage, family, and work—and keep the passion alive through it all?

Yesi’s Review

When you fall in love with characters in a book you can never ever get enough of their HEA in my humble opinion. I absolutely fell hard for Carter and Kat’s love story in Pound of Flesh so I was highly anticipating the release of Love and Always. While I did expect a little more from this novella, I truly enjoyed all the sweet moments and yes, the hot, steamy moments, between Carter and Kat. It felt like an extended epilogue but I think I am okay with that. It gave us a lead into Max’s story, which I absolutely cannot wait for, and it gave us more of two beloved characters. All in all, Love and Always is a quick, sweet, sexy, and heartfelt read. If you loved Pound of Flesh like I did, you’ll certainly appreciate this novella.

About Sophie Jackson

By day I’m a high school English teacher and by night I write stories about bad boys and the women they love.

I always loved reading. As a kid, my mum would take me to the local bookshop every week to buy a new book. I even created my own library on my bookshelf in my bedroom at the age of five! When I started school, I found that I loved writing too.

As I got older, I was never really inspired by anything to kick-start my writing. I had plenty of ideas, which I noted down, but I never actually sat down and wrote anything and always used lack of time as an excuse.

That all changed when three of my pupils dropped a copy of Twilight onto my desk at school. They begged me to read it, which I did, from cover to cover in a day. I devoured the other three books and then read them all over again. I was hooked. When I finished reading them the second time, I knew I needed more. I wanted to learn more about the characters, to see them in different situations and following different storylines. That’s when I happened upon FanFiction.net.

The talent in the fanfiction world is truly incredible, and I spent weeks falling down the ‘Twifiction’ rabbit hole, while falling more in love with the idea of writing my own. I was inspired.

I’m a hopeless romantic and a sucker for a love story, which is what I decided to write. A Pound of Flesh is the result.
