From the author of the New York Times bestselling Bad Boys novels comes the first in a dark, sexy contemporary trilogy. Is she strong enough to trust the most dangerous man she's ever met? And is he strong enough to let her? How would I describe myself? Well, I'm Muse Harper. I'm a twenty-something painter who loves red wine, quirky movies, and men with a fatal flaw. But that was before I met Jasper King. He became my fatal flaw. Eight months ago, I had a choice to make?abandon everything I've ever known to protect my family, or stay and risk someone getting hurt. I chose the former. My plan was working just fine until I found out my father had gone missing. That's when I met Jasper. A bounty hunter with the eyes of a tiger and the nose of a bloodhound, he was supposed to help me find my father. What I didn't know was that meeting him was no accident. Hunting people isn't all that Jasper does. And helping me was only part of his plan. I just wish I'd found out sooner, before my heart got involved. But even then, I don't know if I'd have done things differently. Now, I have another choice to make?trust the man that I'm falling in love with and hope that he'll do the right thing, or run as far away from him as I can get.

Maria’s Review

“I’m probably the worst thing in the world for you. The worst thing that would feel like the best.”

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, author Michelle Leighton knows how to write book boyfriends! I’ve never read a book she’s written where she didn’t have me swooning over her hero. Whether he is a bad boy, cowboy or cocky alpha male, she has a secret recipe to create a man that makes my heart stutter!!  I’d love to get a peek inside her head to see how she does it!

In Strong Enough, the first book in her new Tall, Dark and Dangerous series, we get to know Jasper King. And he is delicious…sexy, dangerous, hot, smart bad boy with a cocky attitude and intense personality. AND, he even speaks Italian! Could he be any more perfect?! We meet him as a little boy in a heart wrenching, pulse racing prologue that wrecked me. It left me wondering where this story was going to go. Jasper’s been through a lot and has baggage that makes him the perfectly imperfect hero. He feels he’s a monster who could never be loved.

Enter Muse Harper, the beautiful, determined and pretty independent heroine. She hires Jasper King to help her not knowing what she’s getting involved in or that they would have met sooner or later due to circumstances beyond either of their control. I do like her, which is saying a lot because, unfortunately, many women characters are extremely annoying or needy. Muse is neither. Though, I’m not going to lie, at times, she frustrated me. I feel for her, though, because everything she thought she knew, her whole life is turned upside down. And Jasper in her life is only going to add to the roller coaster she’s riding.

“Part of me looks forward to it-to his kiss, to his touch, to having time to delve as far into his life as he’ll let me-but part of me dreads the end. Because it will come. And it will be brutal.”

Together they sizzle. Author Michelle Leighton creates believeable insta-lust that is filled with sexual tension so strong, it’s palpable. Their banter is clever, loaded with innuendo and sarcastic humor. Their chemistry is so charged, I couldn’t wait for them to get together. Did I mention how HOT Jasper King is??? Sweet baby Jesus, I want to play poker with him!!! Michelle Leighton’s novels have awesome characters with a great story, but, one of my favorite things that she writes is THAT scene…always an original, steamy, sexy show stealer that leaves the reader fanning herself and thinking, DAYUM….I want that!!! A perfect fantasy. And she doesn’t disappoint with Jasper and Muse. Four alarm fire and if it were me, I’d put in all my poker chips and call, winner take all.

“…I’m going to enjoy every sound, every breath, every squeeze that you make for me. I don’t want to miss even one. Then,” he says, bringing my fingers to his mouth, I’m going to devour you.”

The story is really good. It’s complete, not just a set up or introduction to the series. It leads into the next book, however, if you didn’t want to continue, and I can’t see why you wouldn’t, you wouldn’t have to read any more. I like that because while I love a series, I like closure too. The pacing is on point and kept me turning pages to the end. There are twists that add to the suspense. The supporting characters enhanced the story line. Everything just flowed to make for a fantastic, entertaining story with the perfect mix of romance, intrigue, steam and emotion. Another homerun for Leighton! Fans of this author will not be disappointed. I know I loved it and Jasper is my new BBF. Definitely recommend this book and I can’t wait for the next one!!

“I’m strong enough to kill, to maim, to survive things that would destroy other men…..The one thing I’m not strong enough to do is live without you. Saro sempre pensare a te

She relocated to the warmer climates of the South, where she can be near the water all summer and miss the snow all winter. Possessed of an overactive imagination from early in her childhood, Michelle finally found an acceptable outlet for her fantastical visions: literary fiction.
