The New York Times bestselling author of Wallbanger and Rusty Nailed is back with Nuts, the first in a brand new series set in New York’s beautiful Hudson Valley.
Roxie Callahan is a private chef to some of Hollywood’s wealthiest, and nastiest, calorie-counting wives. After a dairy disaster implodes her carefully crafted career in one fell ploop, she finds herself back home in upstate New York, bailing out her hippie mother and running the family diner.
When gorgeous local farmer Leo Maxwell delivers her a lovely bunch of organic walnuts, Roxie wonders if a summer back home isn’t such a bad idea after all. Leo is heavily involved in the sustainable slow food movement, and he likes to take his time. In all things. Roxie is determined to head back to the west coast as soon as summer ends, but will the pull of lazy fireflies and her very own Almanzo Wilder be enough to keep her home for good?
Salty. Spicy. Sweet. Nuts. Go on, grab a handful.

Yesi’s Thougths

Classic Alice Clayton… romance, humor, and food!

Nutsq1

Nuts is the first book in the Hudson Valley Series… and HOLY SMOKES! What a way to get things started! This book has everything that you would expect from an Alice Clayton book. A good storyline, a really, really, really HOT, sensitive, caring guy, a girl who has her quirks but still manages to warm your heart, and laugh-out-loud momentsthat leaves you with smiles for days.

The book starts off with Roxie and her life in LA. She is a celebrity chef and seems to be on top of the world, until she isn’t. When her mother begs her to come help at the family diner so she can travel the world, Roxie reluctantly, and rather scornfully agrees. I have to say that the first few chapters had me disliking Roxie and her “I am better than my hometown” attitude. I was wondering how Ms. Clayton would turn her into a likeable heroine. As the story progressed, I did end up really liking Roxie and I’m glad because I wasn’t sure Leo would deserve any less than the best for him. And speaking of Leo… yeah, the HOT (can’t say that enough) hipster, farmer boy is to die for!

“The eyes and the hair were a package deal, the hair was falling across his eyes in a careless way that said “Hey, girl. I’ve got peas on my shoes, but who cares, because I’ve got these eyes and this hair, and it’s pretty f**king great.”

Their first meeting is hilarious and their second, and their third… lol! This is where Ms. Clayton shines! I loved how they came to know each other, how the attraction was instant but the build up and sexual tension was just right. Roxie was only supposed to be there for the summer and Leo wasn’t looking for any sort of commitment, but of course things don’t always go as planned. With the right blend of humor, romance, sexy chemistry, steamy moments, and food, lots and lots of food and cakes and farm goodies, Nuts will capture your heart and will leave you with a huge smile. <3

“You sure about this, Sugar Snap?”…
“I’m all in, Farmer Boy.”
