What if the brooding billionaire wore pencil skirts and Louboutins? What if the impressionable intern was a small-town furniture maker with boyish charm?
Cole Jacobson always thought he would take after his father and pursue his dreams. But when the family business falters and he’s forced to accept his uncle’s help, Cole is summoned to the big city for a job he never wanted.
Priorities become obscured when Cole finds himself working for Shaun Wright, the strong, intimidating, and ruthlessly attractive business partner at his uncle’s contracting firm. Forced to either sacrifice his hard-won integrity or leave behind the one thing that brings him true happiness, Cole must make a decision that could cost him both. A decision only complicated by the sexy, inscrutable woman he can’t stop thinking about. A woman who just might be as intrigued as he is to cross professional boundaries.
A provocative, trope-twisting romance, Sarina Rhoads’s Drawn Through You finally puts the heroine on the other side of the desk.

~ b’s musings ~

there is something magical about delving into an author’s very first published work. months, if not years, have been invested in cultivating a story and with excited trepidation, now placing your precious words into a reader’s hands. i was, therefore, extremely excited to delve into the newly published pen of sarina rhoads.

this is a story of a man desperate to salvage the legacy of his father and the future of his family. but to do so, is at the great sacrifice of his own happiness. cole is ready to bite the bullet at the expense of his own integrity if it will shorten his vile obligation. all seems utter agony until his world collides with the fire of shaun. their chemistry is combustible and creates, in turn, a most impossible choice.

ms. rhoads has inked a story filled with fiery passion as well as they aching burn of anger and pain. this book starts out with a monumental bang and proceeds to flow with an unimpeded pace. it was easy to get lost in the roller coaster of her characters’ emotions and drown in the fire of their flames. i very quickly became a fan of the fractured but strong determination of cole and shaun as they worked to overcome all the world had thrown at them.

i really enjoyed this fast paced book and while i was greatly invested in the characters, i found myself wishing there were more answers to my burning questions. i wanted certain outcomes to be more fully flushed out and more firmly resolved. i felt at times that we introduced to people that we never truly got to know nor the purpose of their motivations. perhaps we will revisit sweetwater and more will be revealed, but for now i have a longing to know more about the characters i was rooting for as well as those who stood in their way.

that being said, i found this book intriguing and would gladly reach for another penned by ms. rhoads.

as always, these opinions are based on my preferences as a reader.
