A spellbinding new novel from the author of the Baba Yaga novels.   Since Witches came out of the broom-closet in the early 21st century, they have worked alongside humans as police officers, healers, stock traders, and more. But they aren’t the only paranormal entities in our world...   Police officer and Witch Donata Santori spends her days interrogating dead witnesses by summoning their spectral forms. Normally the job is little more than taking statements and filing reports. But when she’s called in on the case of a murdered art restorer, she finds herself suddenly in possession of a mystical portrait that both the human and paranormal communities would kill to get their hands on.   Unable to take on the forces hunting her alone, Donata seeks help from two unlikely and attractive allies: a reluctant shape-changer and a half-dragon art forger. But as the three of them hurry to uncover the truth about the powerful painting, Donata realizes that she’s caught in the middle of not one but two wars—one for possession of the painting’s secrets and one for possession of her heart...   Includes an exclusive preview of the next Baba Yaga novel, Wickedly Powerful.   Praise for Deborah Blake and her novels   “Paranormal romance at its best.”—Alex Bledsoe, author of Long Black Curl   “Wonderfully imaginative.”—Harlequin Junkie   “Fast-paced and addicting.”—Fresh Fiction

What do murder, art, the Inquisition, a cop, an art forger and a shifter all have in common? No, they didn’t all walk into a bar together.  They are all part of the plot of Veiled Magic by Deborah Blake. Blake in her newest book weaves a thrilling mystery adventure in the paranormal world inhabited by female protagonist officer Donata Sanatoria, she just happens to be a witch in blue, as in officer of the law. She’s part of a hidden paranormal world that has a rich a varied past in human history. Her branch those of witches has come out of the closet, and humans know they exist. But….. Witches are not the only paranormal beasties lurking in the dark, and the rest of the paranormals are still unknown to the majority of the humans.  Blake uses elements of history and religious persecution to thread her story into a rich tapestry that makes her world believable and her plot fast paced.  She also throws in the beginnings of a love triangle as I see this book hopefully becoming a series, as Donata past and present collide as she tries to save both the paranormal and human world from destruction of evil forces. In Blake’s book the good guys don’t just have to protect the paranormal community from paranormal hating extremist, but they have to uncover and protect humanity from the hidden sixth race of paranormal beings, whom want destruction of both sides. Yikes! So hang onto your hats and be reading for this new urban fantasy book.
