This book is ahhhmazing!!!! It is the best in the series in my opinion, and that is saying a lot because this is a fantastic series. Devastate is suspenseful, erotic, funny and dark. It will mess with your mind. I loved every word. I could not put it down, and devoured it from cover to cover. Author Pam Godwin hit it out of the park.
The hero and heroine are Tate and Lucia. Tate is gorgeous, sexy, smart, alpha, but hiding a darkness and a vulnerability. He is determined to find Lucia and bring her back, for selfish reasons. He doesn’t expect his plan to backfire. Lucia is beautiful, sexy, seductive and trapped. She does what she must to survive. When they meet, there is a connection they can’t explain, an attraction they can’t deny.
One of the things that I love about this book is the cast of supporting characters that we have gotten to know throughout the series. I love how they’ve come together to fight a common enemy. Especially Van Quiso. He is the perfect anti-hero. He is the villain who has tried to redeem himself. He is sarcastic and mean. A remorseless killer. But he is so much more.
The unlikely, irreverent bromance between Tate and Van is awesome. They are hysterical; taking uncomfortable, even disturbing, situations and making me laugh out loud with their banter, sarcasm and one liners. Their relationship is second only to the intense relationship between Tate and Lucia. Van solidifies his redemption in my mind.
The push/ pull between Tate and Lucia is intense. They try to fight the growing connection, the smoldering heat between them, the feelings they cannot admit. They are volatile, passionate, and sexy AF! There is life threatening danger all around them. It is heart pounding and pulse racing, the suspense growing with each page turned and each secret uncovered. It all comes to a crazy, twisted head where lives hang in the balance and they are out of options. I held my breath, hoping they’d all find a way to come out of this alive.
Devastate is a fast-paced, exciting roller coaster ride with all the twists and turns you don’t see coming. It is sexy, angsty, dark, and thrilling. Author Pam Godwin delivered a story that was everything I hoped for and more. I’m looking forward to the next book. Devastate will be hard to top, but if anyone has proven they just keep getting better, it’s author Pam Godwin. Highly recommend. Although there are no cliffhangers, the series must be read in order to fully appreciate the story arc and the development of the characters. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
