Secret Lucidity by EK Blair is a heartbreaking, sexy taboo love story about a teacher and his student. It is poignant, sad, and seductive. A story personifying that the heart wants what it wants. Author EK Blair writes a tale born from tragedy. A young girl who loses everything, and in the midst of this loss, finds all she ever needed.
I got completely wrapped up in the story. My heart raced at the thought of their relationship being discovered. It wasn’t a question of if, but when, and how would it end. I know student/teacher romances aren’t for everyone. The forbidden fruit, the danger of being caught, the inappropriateness of the relationship. But, when it’s written the way author EK Blair writes it, it’s beautifully sad. You can’t help but feel for the characters, especially after what our heroine, Camellia has been through, and how our hero, David is there for her. It isn’t an older man preying on a young, innocent girl, but two hearts in pain, reaching out for comfort.
EK Blair develops the relationship beautifully. No insta-love or even insta-sex. But there is caring, tenderness, and a connection. Don’t get me wrong the attraction is intense. The heat scorching. However, it’s so much more. He helps her put her broken pieces back together. He gives her the tools she needs to find her strength. Camellia is so strong and steadfast.
This story isn’t just about star-crossed lovers, it is her journey to find herself after such incomprehensible loss changes her life as she knew it. Everything was stacked against them when it hits the fan, but love is not a choice and it cannot be denied.
If you like taboo stories about forbidden love, this is the book for you. It is sexy, sweet and emotional. EK Blair does it again.
Blair, takes her readers on an emotional roller coaster with her books. Blair
tends to drift towards love stories that are deeply layered with emotional
angst. Give her a character and she will dig into their core to find what lies
beneath.
