When Lily Jacobs was born, she inherited Fazire, a genie. Her family had three wishes and they'd only ever used one. Since Lily never used her wishes, Fazire was stuck in the human world. This worked since he'd become a member of the family anyway. Even with a genie, Lily's young life wasn't perfect. To escape the nasty kids making her miserable at school, Lily buried herself in romance novels. One day, when the teasing was just too much, she used one of her wishes. She told Fazire she wanted to find a man like in her books and she made the most complicated wish Fazire had ever heard. Her wished-for man had to be impossibly handsome, virile, fierce, rugged and ruthless (amongt a dozen other things). He also had to think she was beautiful and he had to love her more than anything in the world. Nathaniel McAllister wasn't born to a life where there were such things as genies granting wishes. His life was filled with drugs, crime and neglect. He was running errands for a gangster before he was in his teens, and even though life and hard work led him to wealth and respectability, he always knew, deep down, he was dirty. When Nate met Lily he knew he was no good for her, but as virile, fierce, rugged and ruthless as he was, Nate was no match for the pull of sweet, innocent Lily. Unfortunately, Lily's wish included that she and her hero go through trials and tribulations to test their love. And Fazire wasn't only a good genie, he loved Lily-so he gave her exactly what she wanted.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have someone in your family who could grant wishes? You speak and that family member who happens to be a genie says “Your wish is my command.” Lily Jacobs has been blessed with just such a family member—Fazire, a lovable genie she inherited from her grandmother Sarah. If you want to know how Fazire got stuck in the human world, you’ll have to read the book description, but stuck he is until all three of Sarah’s original wishes are used up. Three Wishes by Kristen Ashley is a fascinating story with some endearing characters who will make you smile. Just like any fairytale, there is drama, there are good guys and bad guys, and sometimes it’s hard to tell the good guys from the bad guys. There is also the required HEA, but even though you’re expecting the HEA because it’s a fairytale, I bet it will be a different HEA from the one you’re expecting.
Carly Robins is a narrator I haven’t listen to before, but her performance, especially her voice for Lily’s daughter Natasha, is excellent. Kristen Ashley wrote an adorable child that you’ll fall in love with and Carly Robins makes her perfect. By all means get the audio version because Ms. Robins is one of those narrators whose voice takes the author’s work to a new level.
I’m sure there are people who, at times, will be frustrated with the tempo of the storyline because Ms. Ashley does make you wait for it. There are no easy answers for Lily and Nathaniel McAllister, the man she wished for, and even in a fairytale with wishes and a genie, there is a price to be paid for happiness. I applaud the author for giving this story, which could have been mundane, a fantasy-spin which makes it delightful. I think we all need a little fantasy in our lives and I also think every family needs a genie!!!
