This is book 3 in The Boston Belles series and is Ashling and Sam’s story. Oh, Sam. Troy Brennan’s son from one of my favorite books of all time, Sparrow. He stole my heart. Sam is broken. A complete jerk most of the time. Rough and gruff, with definite ideas on who and what he is, but he doesn’t allow his heart to shine through. Author Shen does a fabulous job with his character. He is so frustrating at times, but you understand why and my heart hurt for him.
Ashling has her own damage and vulnerability. She is trapped in a dysfunctional dynamic and has secrets of her own. Her desire for Sam is not one of them. She has wanted him forever.
They have a connection and a palpable attraction. The push / pull is intense. The banter is sarcastic, funny, and fantastic. They have a lot to overcome and their journey is not easy.
I love the development of this story and all the supporting characters, especially Troy and Cillian. They just add so much and so does Sparrow. It flows so well. I was turning pages, devouring every word. The twists left my jaw dropping.
The Monster is a fabulous story. It will intrigue you and keep you engaged from start to finish. It is steamy with secrets, lies, and twists that make this an angsty ride. Definitely recommend!
