An addictive standalone about a Hollywood princess who is desperate to self-destruct…and the grumpy bodyguard who saves her.
I landed in hot water with the tabloids one too many times. What can I say? My nipple wanted to come out and say hi to the paparazzi. After that, my father presented me with an ultimatumβ€”either he cuts off the gravy train and stops paying for my lavish lifestyle or I agree to have a live-in bodyguard. And by bodyguard, I mean a sexy, formidable, out-of-this-world babysitter who just happens to be good at breaking spines.Ransom Lockwood, ladies and gentlemen. Now he is forcing me to try all kinds of weird stuff. Stop partying, clean up my act, get a job…A part of me wants to tell him to get lost. I’m past saving. But the other part? The other part wants to save him.

Thorne Princess by LJ Shen is a dark, enemy to lovers romance. It is a standalone. And it is fantastic!

Hallie Thorne is our feisty heroine. She is sassy, bratty, and misunderstood. Ransom Lockwood is our hero, or rather, antihero. He’s gorgeous, stone cold, sarcastic and a total alphahole as only LJ could write!

No insta-love here. Their journey is a slow, smoldering burn with banter that is addictive, snarky and full of attitude. It appeals to my dry, dark sense of humor and I am here for it. Not to mention, Ransom’s inner thoughts made my day!

I love how author LJ Shen develops their romance and how Hallie’s own self journey leads her to coming into her own.

The secondary plot adds to the drama and danger. I love how the author keeps me on my toes, adding twists I didn’t expect.

There are Trigger Warnings and if you have any, definitely pay heed. I would’ve liked to see more of how they explored this together. But I did enjoy watching them realize that they had feelings for each other and how they went from avoiding and denying it to admitting and embracing it. It was quite the rollercoaster!! Definitely worth ride!
