The WOW factor was in full effect when I first read the synopsis for Filthy Beautiful Lies by Kendall Ryan. My thoughts about the story, the characters, and the outcome were in overdrive and I just could not wait to get started. Having read previous works by Ms. Ryan I fully expected to be overwhelmed by this book. I mean seriously, a million dollars for a girl’s virginity? Goodness!

“I can’t let my new owner get inside my head. He might be buying the rights to my body, but he’ll certainly never have the real me. I need to remember that.”

I am pretty sure she quickly forgot… Sophie is good heroine, selfless, innocent, sweet, and as it turns out a little too trusting. Colton Drake is hot as sin, charming, has a filthy mouth, and can indeed cause panties to combust. Yet, I felt that there was something missing. The prologue immediately drew me in and the story kept me intrigued. Ms. Ryan doesn’t mess around and gets straight to the point. The story as it develops though, starts to fade away from the synopsis and what I had envisioned this book to be. I expected this dominant, alpha male who was going to turn this girl’s innocent world upside down. What I got was a wonderful man with a heart and a conscience, which by all means is great, just not what I expected. The story does have its twists, turns, and a mother of an ending so it did keep my interest and definitely left me wanting so much more.

Filthy Beautiful Lies is a quick read and when I finished I felt like it was the calm before the storm. I absolutely cannot wait for book two Filthy Beautiful Love. I have a feeling that what is behind that expensive suit is going to rock my world. It will be explosive, it will be angsty, and it will most definitely be GOOD… I hope.
