"Hilarious, sexy, and thrillingly high action. GET THIS BOOK "- NYT Bestselling Author Darynda Jones Using her well-worn Tarot deck, magical-artifacts hunter Sara Wilde can find anything--for a price. And the price had better be right, since she needs to finance her own personal mission to rescue several young psychics recently sold on the paranormal black market. Enter Sara's most mysterious client and occasional lover, the wickedly sexy Magician, with a job that could yield the ultimate payday. All she'll have to do is get behind Vatican walls... and steal the Devil himself. But play with the Devil and you're bound to get burned. Pressure mounts for Sara to join the Magician's ancient and mysterious Arcana Council, as militant forces unleashed by even darker powers seek to destroy all magic--including the young psychics Sara is desperate to keep safe. The Council may be their only hope. . . but it could also expose Sara's own dark past. From the twisting catacombs of Rome to the neon streets of Vegas, Sara confronts ancient enemies, powerful demigods, a roiling magical underworld about to explode... and immortal passions that might require the ultimate sacrifice. But oh, what a way to go. No matter how the cards play out, things are about to get Wilde.

Karen’s Review of Getting Wilde

The female protagonist in Getting Wilde is part Indiana Jones, with a pinch or two of Robert Langdon, a generous shake of spunk ala Charley Davidson, plus a frothy whip of urban fantasy, and the resulting scintillating confection is Sara Wilde the creation of author Jenn Stark.  I first encountered Ms. Wilde, in One Wilde Night, at an orgy in Rio where she was naked as a jay bird and slathered in oil. She was a slippery mess as she went after a Jade frog during Carnival.  She completed that slippery quest and despite her loosing her clothes more than once in that story I was hooked. I just knew we would be BFF’s forever. It didn’t hurt that she had an tantalizing sexy male voice in her head.  He happens to have any number of cards up his sleeves, and deserves the moniker The Magician.  Oh Lordy he has the magic touch. I jumped right into Getting Wilde, with gusto, as I followed Sara from Paris to Rome as she needed to retrieve a gold box from the necropolis.  Hmmm….the girl keep her clothes on and she met another devil of a sexy man on her Roman Holiday, as she is hot to make bank in acquiring magical artifacts. I don’t disparage my girl Sara because she has a lust for the moolah.  Sara’s money hunger is for a good reason, she uses it to save and shelter young psychics/magical peeps (Connected) and their families, as the world Sara lives in prays on them.

The world that I first glimpsed while hanging onto Sara’s coattails in Rio has expanded quiet a bit.  But at times I would have liked to have been their on Sara’s first adventures working for the Arcana Council, of which The Magician is a member.  At times I felt as if I was playing catch up in an already established world.  It wasn’t a steep learning curve, but I think Ms. Stark lost a huge opportunity in her story telling by jumping over that time period.  It wasn’t until I was fifty six percent into the book that the omission became a hindrance to me being a companion to Sara’s adventures. Sara kept plodding ahead and I felt like I was tripping over some rocks, especially when Nikki Dawes jumps into our merry adventure.  Now don’t get me wrong I adored Nikki, but when Sara talks about the Tyet I could have used a little 411 on Nikki, and how they met and bonded. This is one of the reasons my adventure with Sara is only getting four stars, because I was like Sara, you trust her, but you’ve only made a few pit stops in Vegas. WHAT?? Come on girl we had Rio together!  Speaking of Rio, what happened with Micheal, did you ditch the kid or did he die?  You had me all worried about him, as he was recovering from the bad guys holding him, and nothing nada zip! Really Sara, you are too compassionate of a girl to have left me hanging! Sara jumps right in looking for kidnapped psychic (Connected) kids in Vegas. Sara either has guts to spare or no common sense when it comes to her personal safety, I decided it was both.  The girl uses her Tarot cards to guide her and find, the kiddies; just like she finds artifacts using those same cards. She was either born under a lucky star, or a cursed one.  As she goes where angels are afraid to tread.  Sara is whammed by some huge juju and now both Sara and I have to contend with the magic fall out, and the Arcana Council. Plus we got smacked in the face with Sara’s past!  Hmmm… Just so you know be prepared for the healing ways of The Magician.

This was on wild ride, pun intended, and this urban fantasy author needs to be on your reading radar, but keep in mind the sexual content is more tease than bed sports.  😉
