~ Maria’s Review ~

Rosemary Beach is a favorite place of mine. More drama than the Hamptons, hotter than the Jersey Shore. And Nan has been there, on the fringe, deep in the action all along. Love her or hate her, you cannot miss this final book in author Abbi Glines’ Rosemary Beach series! Up in Flames is Nan’s story, finally. If you’re a fan, like me, you’ve been waiting, hoping, praying, she’d get her own book for a long time. The wait is over. Her story is live on June 28. Get ready because it’s nothing like I expected and better than I imagined. Completely different take on the Rosemary Beach storyline, yet true to Nan’s bitchy, nasty, misunderstood, entitled character.

Up In Flames has a different feel. It was a really great story but I must admit, it didn’t seem like it was set in Rosemary Beach. That being said, the trouble and drama that ensues could only happen to Nan. Her story is fittingly like a soap opera or crime show.  We learn more about Nan. Things that may have NanHaters changing their mind. Don’t misunderstand, as I said before, author Abbi Glines stays true to Nan’s nasty, mean girl character. However, hearing her POV is a bit more telling as to why she is this way. I won’t say if she redeems herself because most readers feel very strongly about her. I will say we do see some vulnerability and she goes through things that change her perspective and make her understand things better. I see-sawed between hating her and feeling sorry for her. I found myself really liking the antihero, Gannon Roth over supposed hero, Major.

Both male characters are hot, sexy, and intriguing but, I’m not going to lie. Major, in the beginning was a bit of a jerk in my opinion. By the end I did grow to like Major more, but not my choice. Now Gannon Roth, was dark, dangerous, alpha and not all he pretended to be with Nan. We know more of who he is but watching his plan unravel as he gets to know Nan, sold his character to me.

The readers are privy to what is going on way before Nan finds out. It appears that this is a love triangle but it is so much more. The story has many twists and turns, that even though the reader knows most of what’s going on, there are still many WTF moments. The action builds and develops flawlessly, which is no easy feat, as author Abbi Glines tells it in dual POV with a third character narrating thrown in. But, it is easy to follow and gives closure to many questions I had while reading.

Though I’m sad to see the series come to an end, I was happy that Up In Flames went in a different direction than the general storyline that most of the series had.  While there was one major similarity, it was overall unique, engaging and different than the rest. I wouldn’t expect Nan’s story any other way. She was one of a kind, as is her story. Fans of the series and author will not be disappointed.

About Abbi Glines

Abbi Glines is a #1 New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestselling author of the Rosemary Beach, Sea Breeze, Vincent Boys, and Existence series. She has a new YA series coming out in the fall of 2015 titled The Field Party Series . She never cooks unless baking during the Christmas holiday counts. She believes in ghosts and has a habit of asking people if their house is haunted before she goes in it. She drinks afternoon tea because she wants to be British but alas she was born in Alabama. When asked how many books she has written she has to stop and count on her fingers. When she’s not locked away writing, she is reading, shopping (major shoe and purse addiction), sneaking off to the movies alone, and listening to the drama in her teenagers lives while making mental notes on the good stuff to use later. Don’t judge.

You can connect with Abbi online in several different ways. She uses social media to procrastinate.
