Yesi’s Thoughts

I don’t even know where to begin, seriously. The anticipation and the expectations for this book were at an all time high. Which as you probably know, can be a good thing or a bad thing. Sometimes we set the bar way too high for books from favorite authors who have proven in the past to give us some great reads only to be slightly let down in the end. Well, this is one of those instances where the finished product matched the expectation. Neighbor Dearest is one heck of a read. I can’t pinpoint one single thing that I did not like about this book. Penelope Ward delivers a very entertaining and very well told friends to lovers story.

Damien is the hot neighbor from hell, well not really, he’s just slightly misunderstood. Chelsea is the girl next door with a broken heart. Between the two of them there is so much depth to their past and really, their present. When they start to form a friendship and that subtle chemistry is evident from the beginning, as a reader, you start to feel the heart skipping and the hope for more. As their story develops and the chemistry is no longer subtle but burning hot, things take a turn. Damien is insistent that they remain only friends even though his feelings are so clear. Chelsea, bless her heart, she had the patience of a saint. Without giving much more away, let me tell you, when they do finally come together, it is explosive!

I loved the relationship build-up, the easy going banter, their overall personalities, and those swoon worthy moments that Damien gave us. These two characters captured my heart from the get go. And at the end, when it finally clicked how I knew Chelsea and her sister Jade, yeah, LOVED that! Bottom line, this is a fantastic read and one that needs to be on your immediate TBR! I loved everything about Neighbor Dearest and this author continues to WOW. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for more.
