"Sexy, tough, and deftly sprinkled with dark humor.”—New York Times bestselling author Larissa Ione
Before the Scorpius Syndrome tore through North America and nearly wiped out the population, Vivienne Wellington was the FBI’s best profiler. The bacteria got her anyway. But she survived. She recovered. And when she woke up from a drug-nightmare of captivity, her trust in her fellow man had gone from shaky at best to nonexistent. Her mysterious rescuer wants to convince her he’s the exception. But no matter how tempting he is, with his angel’s eyes and devil’s tongue, Vinnie knows she shouldn’t trust him.
If the FBI were still around they would rate Raze Shadow as one of the bad guys. His military training can’t wipe out his association with the Mercenaries, the most feared gang in a thousand miles. His loyalties are compromised. He won’t even tell Vinnie his real name. But there’s no FBI in the new America of fear and firepower, only instinct and risk. And the way his arms wrap around her tells its own story. Whatever else Raze is concealing, he can’t hide his desire . . .
“Thrilling post-apocalyptic romance at its dark, sizzling best!” —Lara Adrian

Shadow Falling is book two of Rebecca Zanetti post plague post apocalyptic world book series. (Say that three times fast) I really liked book one, but book two has stepped up the story and I am immersed in the dangerous and deadly world Zanetti has built.

Wow, this is one explosive follow up to Mercury Striking  The Scorpius Syndrome, which I read a couple of weeks ago.  Yes, you could read this second book as a standalone, as Zanetti does an excellent job of getting the reader ‘up to speed’ in her dystopian apocalyptic world, where a bacterium has decimated the population of the United States. The bacterium leaves some survivors and ravages the minds of some leaving sociopaths behind. A brave messed up world with a whole lot of danger.

What I really adore about these stories is that they have alpha males who are equally matched with alpha female. There is plenty of give and take in the relationship dynamic as relationship Raze Shadow and Vinnie unfold.  But even though these two are the focus of this book, Jax and Lynn, the main characters in Mercury Striking are not relegated  to the background, as Zanetti has a full world and cast of characters to fill it with.

What I wish for, as the book concluded was for Jax was stepping up as a leader and this book had him still in total fighter mode.  I need to see him interact with non soldiers. The fighters need to spread their social wings.

Plus Vinnie as an FBI analyst would have had self defense and firearms training, Vinnie having no skills or training rung false.  It was sexy Raze training her but she would have had to have gone through Quantico for training.

Last would love to learn more about Sami’s past.

Just FYI Mercury Striking is only $1.99 on Amazon at time of posting.
