~ Maria’s Review ~
I didn’t realize how much I missed the dark Boston underworld created by the talented author A. Zavarelli until I read Thief. It was great being back in their world. Thief is an amazing installment in this amazing series. It is book 5 and can be read as a standalone, though, I personally recommend reading the series in order to fully appreciate the story. Thief centers around Nikolai and Tanaka. I fell in love with these characters, and, I know you will, too.
Nikolai is dangerous, arrogant, gorgeous, and mean. He is in the Russian mafia. He has an agenda and is haunted by the many ghosts of his past. Nikolai isn’t looking for redemption. He’s looking for revenge. Until Tanaka. Even then, he thinks he knows but everything changes with her. She is beautiful, young, naïve but not. She has been through a lot in her life. She is an Italian mafia princess. But though she seems docile and subservient, there is a fire building inside her. A need for control. She pours everything she has into her dancing until she can’t.
Author A. Zavarelli does a fantastic job developing the relationship between Nikolai and Tanaka. The push/ pull is intense. The attraction is palpable. The interaction is sarcastic, snarky, mean, seductive and at times, caring. But a Russian Vory can’t show weakness and she can’t fall for him. Both are stubborn, but try as they might, fate has other plans. I love how Tanaka comes into her own. Her character is sassy and feisty. I loved when she finally lets it out. They both have to face some hard truths.
Thief had me hooked. Author A. Zavarelli has a unique writing style. It just draws you in. She captivated me with her words. This is a great series. It is dark, edgy, twisted and sexy. Highly recommend.
posture. I was raised to believe that good posture conveys good manners, as
well as respect for those around you. Nikolai carries his posture like a casual
‘f#ck you’ to everyone around him. There is no decorum in his leather jacket,
jeans, or his haphazardly laced motorcycle boots. Everything he wears is black,

inch of his exposed skin, including his throat.
