Jude Farraday is a happily married, stay-at-home mom who puts everyone’s needs above her own. Her twins, Mia and Zach, are bright and happy teenagers. When Lexi Baill enters their lives, no one is more supportive than Jude. A former foster child with a dark past, Lexi quickly becomes Mia’s best friend. Then Zach falls in love with Lexi and the three become inseparable. But senior year of high school brings unexpected dangers and one night, Jude’s worst fears are confirmed: there is an accident. In an instant, her idyllic life is shattered and her close-knit community is torn apart. People—and Jude—demand justice, and when the finger of blame is pointed, it lands solely on eighteen-year-old Lexi Baill. In a heartbeat, their love for each other will be shattered, the family broken. Lexi gives up everything that matters to her—the boy she loves, her place in the family, the best friend she ever had—while Jude loses even more.

When Lexi returns, older and wiser, she demands a reckoning. Long buried feelings will rise again, and Jude will finally have to face the woman she has become. She must decide whether to remain broken or try to forgive both Lexi…and herself.

Night Road is a vivid, emotionally complex novel that raises profound questions about motherhood, loss, identity, and forgiveness. It is an exquisite, heartbreaking novel that speaks to women everywhere about the things that matter most.

***  My Thoughts  ***

A heartfelt and emotionally realistic telling of spiraling into the darkness and the slow awaking of learning how to process the past so you the power and desire to love and live again.

Written with such realistic and relatable characters, Night Road is a fast paced read that settles itself within you instantly.

The stark contrasts between family, values and relationships is in the forefront of your mind with every interaction the characters have.

Interactions between all characters are crucial in the writing of the this story. It’s those interactions that play a huge role in developing each of the main characters personalities. The physical attributes of the characters are written with pinpoint precision making it so easy to create a picture in your mind.

Mia is a character who is relatable on so many levels. I would have to think that at some point if you are a women, you have felt or witnessed the situations Mia has endured.

Zach is written with such heartfelt emotion and care. He is a loving son, a best friend a brother and is an all around likeable character. He is patient, full of emotion and puts others feelings before his own.

Lexi is broken, beautiful and realistic in her thoughts. Lexi is a fighter until she’s not. Lexi is honorable with a strong morals. Your heart will break for Lexi. You’ll be cautious of outside influences and people who try to break through the barriers Lexi has created. You’ll champion for happiness and love to enter her life. You’ll break when the cards are dealt and reactions to actions seem like nothing will ever be ok.

Jude is unlike any person I have met in real life. That said she is written in such a way that you feel her every emotion. She is a complex character which was a surprise. In the beginning to the book I thought she really didn’t have many sides to her personality. Jude is the character that broke my heart while trying to save hers.

Miles is loveable, compassionate, considerate and supportive. Miles is the voice of reason. I’ll admit it I fell in love with Miles. I felt every emotion his character went through and I would dumbfounded by his endurance, tolerance and level headed thought process. Miles is a gem of a character. A character you may just wish existed in your real life.

Night Road is a fast paced and engaging story. It’s been a while since I was looking forward to having the time to return to my book which made reading this book an absolute pleasure.
