Stolen in Death by J.D. Robb
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Nobody does it better than Robb narrated by Susan Ericksen. Reading a J.D. Robb book is like going home to friends and family, if those loved ones were involved in murder investigations in the mid twentieth century. It sounds like a lovely reunion and it certainly was. I’ve been an Eve Dallas fan shortly after my mom’s passing. My mom had read all the books up until she passed, but it wasn’t until my fellow blogger Robbie mentioned them that I became addicted to fighting crime and catching criminals Dallas style. Like all of Robb’s In Death books this newest can be read as a stand alone, but as a reader the characters relationships and plot nuances are better enjoyed by reading the entire series. In this book Eve is thrust into an investigation of murder, stolen jewels and family secrets. I know some reviewers have yapped about Robb’s writing being formulaic or the comment “This wasn’t written by Robb,” utter poppycock, every book has the same wonderful characters, and plotting. The same great Eve Dallas from book one, but her world has expanded, but her need to stand for the dead is still firing on all cylinders. I keep coming back to Robb, not only for the stories, but for the utterly brilliant narration of Susan Ericksen. I don’t think I love a narrator more, as she brings every character to life with their own unique voice. Between Robbs writing and Erickson’s narration, I am gifted with a movie in my head. I loved the story, I loved the roller coaster ride and I am grateful to read and listen to this series. Even my grown son is a Robb fan, so that’s three generations that have loved and listened to these books.

Spot on! I couldn’t have said it better myself!!!
