Olivia

Debbie’s Review:

This story centers around five people.  Their lives weaving a web of truth, lies, deception, trust, heartbreak, confusion, hope, shattered dreams and possibilities for the future.

Olivia is a young women who suffered a through a horrible situation.  She has chosen to close herself off from the world and has only let one person into her life her boss and best friend Kyle.  Kyle is a compassionate, caring, loving man who will stop at nothing to provide the happiness and security he feels Olivia deserves.  Abby is engaged to Adam.  Adam loves Abby and is planning to make her his wife.  Before he can do that he has to share the secrets of his past.  Johnny is Adams’ best friend.  Johnny is the person who connects everyone together.  This is a story of truths, lies, love, hate, deception and surprises.  It is a story of hopes, dreams and desires.  It is a story that will surprise and may even shock you as the characters slowly reveal their pasts to you.

The characters in the book are presented to us with clear and crisp definition.  While I did not relate with the main character Olivia on an emotional level I did feel that the author had provided me with a wonderful description of her physical being.  I did find myself connecting with Kyle.  I found his compassion added depth to the story.  I found Johnny to be a mystery within himself and I would have to say that this character intrigued me.  I wanted to know more about him and hoped the author would reveal a backstory.  I hope that this will occur in the second book in this series.  Let’s just say as far as Adam goes the author did a bang up job with him.  Not only did he surprise in his many actions his special kind of evil brought a completely different element into the story. As with Johnny I do hope the author continues to share Adams’s story with us in book two.  As with Olivia I had a hard time connecting with Abby.  As the story progressed I realized that Abby’s role in the story was vital.  Abby holds many secrets which are revealed slowly.  I have a feeling there is still a lot left to learn about Abby.

The story is told to us through the minds of Olivia and Abby.  By doing this the author provides us with the insight needed to peak the readers interest.  There are many twists and turns to this story and just when you think the story is going to end it starts up again.

B.L. Mooney started writing when the voices and storylines in her head ran out of room. They were getting too cramped and neither B.L. nor the characters could take it anymore, so she did the only thing she could do—she made room. She always knew she wanted to write, but vowed to make time for it later. Now that she’s made time for writing, most everything else falls to the wayside. That seems to suit the characters that keep popping up just fine.

B.L. lives in the Midwest and her other talents include in-demand cookies, a very dry sense of humor, and stealth eavesdropping. Some mannerisms, attitudes, or twists come from random sentences picked up while passing by strangers. So speak up the next time you have something to gossip about.
