Dragos Cuelebre, Lord of the Wyr, needs to throw a party without maiming anyone. That isn’t exactly as easy as it might sound.
After the destructive events of the last eighteen months, the Elder Races are heading to Washington D.C. to foster peace with humankind. Not known for his diplomacy skills, Dragos must rely on his mate Pia to help navigate a battlefield of words and polite smiles rather than claws. With Dragos’s mating instinct riding close to the surface, his temper is more volatile than ever and the threat of violence hovers in the air.
Then the human spouse of a prominent politician winds up murdered and Dragos and Pia must race against time to hunt down those behind it before they are held responsible for the crime. (40,000 words; 174 pages)
The latest novella in the Elder Races holds passion, peril, political intrigue, and revelations that will change Dragos and Pia’s lives forever.
DRAGOS GOES TO WASHINGTON is the first part of a three-story series about Dragos, Pia, and their son Liam. Each story stands alone, but fans might want to read all three in order as they will be released: DRAGOS GOES TO WASHINGTON, PIA DOES HOLLYWOOD, and LIAM TAKES MANHATTAN.

I still have the goofy grin on my face as I type my review of Dragos Goes to Washington, a novella I devoured in one sitting. My butt planted in my chair and I didn’t come up for air until I was finished.  Thea Harrison with her latest novella gives her Elder Race Series reader’s a wonderful glimpse into the family life of Dragos, Pia and Liam Cuelbbre.  I am not going to lie to you I adore this series and Harrison has kept her books fresh and with plots that always move the series forward. I have never read one of her stories and thought that I had read the book prior, which is refreshing especially when some paranormal/urban fantasy writers struggle with series that have long lives, but don’t have enough juice in them to sustain them.  When it comes to Harrison’s writing she not only sustains her world, but fuels it with a fire that keeps me on the edge of my seat and coming back time and again for more adventure, and emotionally packed reads.

Among the many jewels in Harrison’s crown is her ability to write character dialog, that cuts to the heart of her character’s personality. When it comes to banter no ones gives character banter like Harrison, and no characters can sexy banter like Dragos and Pia!  ****Blushing**** Holy. Hotness. Drago and Pia steam up the pages of this novella and this is before the sexy, skin on skin action actually begins. My eReader melted from the foreplay banter, and the passion that these two characters have within this story is tantalizing and fiery. Thank goodness Dragos is a dragon Wyr and can’t catch, fire because as her burns up the pages of this novella.

With all of Harrison’s Elder Race books and novella the reader gets a well thought out story, and this one has lots of political intrigue in Washington D.C.. Harrison can do more with a novella than some authors do with a full length book. This is one novella  not to be missed, as it enriches the Elder Race Series and packs some series surprises too!

About Thea Harrison

I write paranormal romance, urban fantasy, and other stuff. I taught myself to read when I was four. That was around the time I tried to ride my tricycle to work. I wasn’t sure where work was, but I knew it had to be interesting if people went there every day. Now I combine my love of books with work, and I don’t have to ride my tricycle to get there. My Elder Races series began May, 2011.
