The “unparalleled romantic adventure”* of Nalini Singh’s New York Times bestselling series continues as a new dawn begins for the Psy-Changeling world…  A staggering transformation has put the Psy, humans, and changelings at a crossroads. The Trinity Accord promises a new era of cooperation between disparate races and groups. It is a beacon of hope held together by many hands: old enemies, new allies, wary loners.   But a century of distrust and suspicion can’t be so easily forgotten, and it threatens to shatter Trinity from within at any moment. As rival members vie for dominance, chaos and evil gather in the shadows and a kidnapped woman’s cry for help washes up in San Francisco, while the Consortium turns its murderous gaze toward a child who is the embodiment of change, of love, of piercing hope: a child who is both Psy…and changeling.   To find the lost and protect the vulnerable—and to save Trinity—no one can stand alone. This is a time of loyalty across divisions, of bonds woven into the heart and the soul, of heroes known and unknown standing back to back and holding the line. But is an allegiance of honor even possible with traitors lurking in their midst?   *Publishers Weekly on Shards of Hope

Review by Karen

Allegiance of Honor by Nalini Singh is a definite bridge novel in the Psy Changeling series. At the end of the first series story arc with Shard’s of Hope reader’s saw the results of silence’s fall, and with it a brave new world blossom. This newest  book in the Psy/Changeling saga is about the bloom of that new world and those who wish to destroy it for personal gain and hate. What is exciting about this book is that every main Psy and Changeling character from the past is included in this novel; as the Psy and Changeling world have become inter meshed. The major plot line is one of new beginnings, and the rise of a new more pervasive foe; who doesn’t care about the lives that might be destroyed for his or her quest for power.  The architect is a psychopath, that is unparalleled in recent Psy-Changeling book, he makes Ming LeBon seem tame in comparison.

The world that Singh has built is not by any means a perfect one, but with the end of the first series arc with Shard’s of Hope; the world of the Psy, Changeling, and human’s were on the precipice of a new world full of possibilities. Those possibilities are at jeopardy as this book opens.

I love the world that Singh built as it has become a true melting pot of both genetics and culture.  The races aren’t divided along colored lines or ethnicity, but is made up of three distinct races; and even those are blending.  I want to live in a world were people are truly color blind and babies like Naya whom is a blending of two heritages exist to lead the way for the rest of us.

Here are a few reasons why you should read Allegiance of Honor and the Psy/Changeling Series.

  1. It’s about Family.
  2. Pretty much every main character of the series gets some book time.  Lots of Lucus and Hawke!
  3. The kids, Naya, Ben, Marlee, Julian, Roman etc. Who are the future of the entire world. The brightness.
  4. The future of the series.
  5. Pup cubs.
  6. BlackSea Pack.
  7. The Vanished.
  8. Evil Architect plans lots of mischief and murder.
  9. Xavier and Nina.
  10. Mother and Daughter finally have a very long overdue chat.
  11. Family bonds and friendship.
  12. New and old baddies.
  13. Sexy times.
  14. Fond farewells.
  15. New Beginnings.

This is really a book that will be key to moving forward in the series, as Singh has set up many future plot point in this novel.  For some readers it may not seem as riveting as other books in the series; but as I finished the book, and mulled it over I really say this as a lynchpin type series book. Plus as a reader I got to visit all the wonderful characters of the series.

About Nalini Singh

I’ve been writing as long as I can remember and all of my stories always held a thread of romance (even when I was writing about a prince who could shoot lasers out of his eyes). I love creating unique characters, love giving them happy endings and I even love the voices in my head. There’s no other job I would rather be doing. In September 2002, when I got the call that Silhouette Desire wanted to buy my first book, Desert Warrior, it was a dream come true. I hope to continue living the dream until I keel over of old age on my keyboard.

I was born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand. I also spent three years living and working in Japan, during which time I took the chance to travel around Asia. I’m back in New Zealand now, but I’m always plotting new trips. If you’d like to see some of my travel snapshots, have a look at the Travel Diary page (updated every month).

So far, I’ve worked as a lawyer, a librarian, a candy factory general hand, a bank temp and an English teacher and not necessarily in that order. Some might call that inconsistency but I call it grist for the writer’s mill.
