Buckled by Pam Godwin is a fantastic story. It is intense, edgy, and sexy AF! It is a great follow up to book 1, Knotted. Though it is not a cliffhanger, Buckled has some unexpected twists and turns that I didn’t see coming and make for a terrific story line. There is mild angst and drama.
Jarret is delicious. He is gorgeous, confident, alpha and protective. He has a kinky side and is good with a riding crop. He has secrets and family to protect. He is loyal and hotter than hell.
Maybe is beautiful, smart, and looking for answers. She’s desperate for them. She has secrets of her own.
Their banter is sarcastic, funny, and filled with innuendo. Their push/pull is intense. Not everyone or everything is what it seems. Jarret and Maybe both want something from the other and author Pam Godwin develops their relationship smoothly. Jarret is kinda perfect. I think I love him more than Jake. Jarret is so sensual and charming. He is so good with Maybe. He is honorable yet dangerous to those who threaten his family.
The story is told in alternating POV so as the reader I know things before the other characters do. I love that. I love being in both their heads.
I like that author Pam Godwin kept characters Jake and Conor, from book 1, as well as, Lorne, integral parts of the story because their relationship with each other is such an important part of the story.
Buckled isn’t your average cowboy romance. It is gritty and edgy with quite a few twists and turns. It is steamy and so good. Definitely recommend. I cannot wait for book 3!
