For almost two years now, Kiera’s boyfriend, Denny, has been everything she’s ever wanted: loving, tender and endlessly devoted to her. I do this to myself at least once a year. I just can’t resist the pull I feel towards these characters and I find myself ignoring the new releases I have and sink back into the comfort of Thoughtless.
This book and these characters hold a very special place in my heart. This author is one of first indie authors I ever read. Her words enticed, delighted and destroyed me. Honestly, the authors words bled into my soul and took up permanent residence.
It’s funny though how my feelings for some of the characters have evolved with each re-read. If I’m being truthful there is not way I could include the incomparable Kellen Kyle. I find with each re-read, my compassion and love for this characters embeds itself deeper with my heart. There is just something about this character that knocks me off my feet.
This story is a whirlwind of emotion. It’s raw, alluring, sensual, heartbreaking, frustrating and compassionate.
The characters are so beautifully vibrant, strong, weak, talented, determined and broken. Each character plays such a vital role in bringing this engaging story full circle.
Once again, it will take a long time before I can digest all of the emotions that were brought back to my mind while re-reading this story.
Thank you S. C. Stephens for writing a story that resonates so deep within me. I can’t wait to read Painful.
