Silver Bastards is a solidly written MC romance by Ms. Joanna Wylde. Reader’s of her previous MC romance will love it. I did adore the inner monologue of both Puck and Becca. Becca and Puck are both introduced five years prior in the prologue. He is twenty one fresh out of jail and she is a the daughter of a MC hanger on. Both were exposed to a very different type of MC lifestyle growing up.
Becca’s life has never been ‘normal’ and her need to claw herself out a normal life is total opposite of the MC lifestyle. The girl was horrible abused and never had a safe place to land, until she finds herself in Callup ID.
The story is fast paced and multiple story plots intermix. I did feel like this book was a set up for future stories, and that Wylde maybe going into ‘mobster’ romance, as the books bad guy story ARC does involve mob elements.
The relationship between the two main characters is lust filled, this isn’t a romance; as these two rage and fight the sexual attraction they have for each other. For Puck it’s because of guilt, and for Becca it’s because she wants a normal life. Romance conjures up warm and fuzzy moments, trust me no warm and fuzzy moments her, rough and hard, down and dirty, yeah that sums up the sexual tension between the two.
Wylde does blend real historic mining events into the book, which makes it a very interesting read.
Final note the book does have rape/molestation elements involved. Those sensitive to fictional sexual violence need to understand this prior to reading.
