Maria’s Thoughts

Forget Batman and Robin. They have nothing on the dynamic duo that is author Christina Lauren. Beautiful is their final installment in the Beautiful series, making it a bittersweet, beautiful ending. I absolutely loved it. Authors Christina Lauren does it again. Beautiful is funny, sexy, angsty and sweet; everything you’d want in a great romance and everything you’d expect from this amazing writing team.

Beautiful brings us a new couple to love, Pippa and Jensen. They are such fantastic characters. Jensen is Hanna’s brother and Will’s best friend, for those familiar with the series (and if you’re not, what are you waiting for?? Get on it). He is successful, smart, gorgeous and sexy as sin.  He also has baggage. Enter Pippa. A quirky, smart, pretty English whirlwind, friend of Ruby and Niall,  looking for an escape from her reality. Their first encounter is funny, what happens after is unexpected.

“This isn’t what a fling should be. He wasn’t casual, forgettable. He wasn’t flaky or flippant. He was attentive, he was considerate, and -holy f***- he seemed more committed to spending time with me than he was to sleeping, to eating…It was almost as if this is what he wanted.”

I must admit Pippa may be my new favorite heroine in this series. She is no damsel in distress but she’s not bitchy either. She is unique, sassy, fun. And Jensen is so proper and poised, you almost don’t expect him to also be so HOT. But, could he be anything else? I mean it’s Christina Lauren we’re talking about. They know what makes a leading male and Jensen is it.

“I wanted to bottle his sounds and eat them later. I wanted to bottle his scent and roll in it.”

I love the dual POV. Loved being inside Jensen and Pippa’s heads, as well as seeing things from their perspective and their interactions with the other characters. The banter between them and all the characters was funny, sarcastic and just endearing at times. Loved Will, Hanna, Ruby and Niall playing such strong supporting roles, as well as, the parts infused with Chloe, Bennett, Max and Sara. And the epilogues?! LOVED! Beautiful is a beautiful ending for this Beautiful series. Each book creative, original, funny and sinfully steamy. Highly recommend this novel and the entire series. I’m sad to see it end. I look forward to what amazing stories they will bring us next.

About Christina Lauren

Yes, there are two of us! Lauren (on the left) and Christina (on the right).

Christina Lauren is the combined pen name of long-time writing partners/besties/soulmates/brain-twins Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings. The coauthor duo writes both Young Adult and Adult Fiction, and together has produced eight New York Times bestselling novels. Their books have been translated into 24 languages.

Lauren Billings (but everyone calls her Lo) has a Ph.D. in neuroscience and before she made writing her full-time job, would spend her days doing nerdy research-type things wearing a lab coat and goggles. She is silly Mommy to two littles, wife to one mountain biking homebrewing scientist, bestie to a shoe-stealer, and an unabashed lover of YA and romance.

Christina Hobbs (but you’ll always hear Lo call her PQ) used to spend her days in a junior high counseling office surrounded by teenagers. These days you’ll probably find her on tumblr. She is married and absolutely not old enough to be the mom of a 14 year old (right??), thinks she’s the luckiest person in the world to write books with her best friend, and is an unapologetic lover of boy bands and glitter. She also likes to steal Lo’s shoes.

You can follow their shenanigans at:

@lolashoes (Lauren) & @seeCwrite (Christina) on Twitter. On Tumblr! where we post kissing gifs and writerly stuff and Wattpad for short stories and sneak peeks!

Beautiful Bastard is my favorite book in the series because I still think it includes one of the hottest sex scenes I’ve ever read and generally it’s special to me 💙 Thank you!!

Beautiful Secret is my favorite! I loved Niall and Ruby’s story. Every stoic, reserved, proper, English bit of Niall was scrumptious. Loved him!

I love all the characters, no one favorite. I loved how they made appearances in the series. Like one Big family
