Author LJ Shen delivers an addicting, steamy story in The Devil Wears Black.
No one writes an arrogant, self-absorbed, egotistical alpha male like author LJ Shen. And I love him. Chase Black gives Wolfe Keaton from The Kiss Thief a run for his money. He is gorgeous, smart, wealthy, confident, and full of himself. But he has met his match and doesn’t even know it.
Enter Madison Goldbloom. Talented, beautiful, petite and kind. So kind, she often puts others before herself. Giving herself the martyr nickname.
But these two have history and it isn’t pretty. So while she agrees to Chase’s request, it’s not going to be as easy as he thinks. She is no longer a timid kitten. She’s got claws. Maddie is sassy and feisty.
The banter is engaging, sarcastic and witty filled with innuendo and heat. Their connection and chemistry is palpable.
I love the premise of this novel. The fake fiancé second chance romance. I must admit I’m so happy that this book was dual POV because I’m not sure I would’ve liked Chase without being in his head and knowing why he did what he did to Maddie. That being said, I love how he finds things out about himself while portraying this “fake relationship” for family reasons.
The Devil Wears Black is a great read. It is angsty, twisty, funny and steamy. I love the way this author writes and the characters she breathes to life. Definitely recommend!
